Norm claiming 8-3 is about as bad as we could've been

He's basically saying that looking back at it, this is about as bad as we could've been at this point. It's the same old game that when we're getting ready to play a solid team -- like, say, Atlanta -- it's a big game against a good team and it'll be a real indication of what kind of team we have.

Then after we've beaten them, well of course we should've beaten that scrub team, because they weren't really any good.

This wears me out as much as anything. Going into the season, a lot of pundits picked us to be very average, or even to fall completely apart. Remember that? Remember when 44-6 was an indication of how rudderless, gutless, and overrated this team was? But now in hindsight, oh, of course this team should've whipped those teams because they're clearly much better.

No, you can't have it that way. These players and coaches weren't gifted the games they won -- they had to go out and work their tails off and execute well enough on gameday to win.

Please don't anyone bother with the "Why do you get upset about what the media say" stuff, because I promise that this isn't keeping me up at night. ;) Just pointing out a way of thinking that I don't think makes any sense, and almost everyone in the media does it.

I agree....but I, for one, hope that it continues well into January.

I don't get it. So is he saying that we could have been 11-0? Cause saying 8-3 is as bad as we could have been sounds kind of like a compliment.

No...its just the media's way of taking away any credit from the team. By saying that, they're essentially removing any positive accomplishments by the team, and saying that if we weren't 8-3, that they would simply be complete failures.

The team is literally two plays away from 10-1, but of course a few play here and there and we could have a worse record. The team controls its own destiny which is a good spot to be in right now.

Norm is out of his mind. 8-3 is a bad thing? 1st in the NFC East with a 2 game lead over the Giants is a bad thing?

Despite some ugly play at times, the team is in better shape than I thought it would be at this point in time. All they have to do is win 2 out 5 for a pretty realistic shot at the playoffs. If they can win 3 out 5 its virtually guaranteed, and there is a good chance they win the division.

Your preaching to Galloway's-choir-in-hiding on this board, CL. It's easier for the random anonymous fans to backtrack quietly onto the bandwagon after a couple of wins, but many of them were predicting the same doom and gloom as recently as last week. It's quiet now, but wait until the first December loss for the next gutless-check.

To your post: taking 8-3 for granted in the NFL is, of course, ludicrous.

Hes to focused on the Cowboys to notice anyone elses warts.

Its parity football and our team can beat anyone. That includes the Colts, Saints, Patriots, Vikings, or anyone.

That being said we can be beat by those teams as well.

I dont know but 8-3 and division lead is pretty darn good.

I do think that we could be undefeated as well. Not crying over the losses(anymore:)) but we never really "lost" a game. We gave each loss away.

Giants won by OUR doing.
Broncos won by OUR doing.
Packers won by OUR doing.

Yes, I know you have to give teams credit too. But those were all winnable games if we get one or two plays executed per game.

The knee jerks will register pretty high on the Richter scale if and when that day comes. Can't wait.

I'm with you on the first two, but the Packers took it to us. I agree that we should win 7-10 against that team, and that we left plays on the field in that game, but they beat us soundly.

While I think we should have beaten the Gaints and Broncs, and the poor officiating played a par tin the Packer game.....I still think Green Bay outplayed us by a considerable margin that day. I give them more credit for the win than I give us poor credit for the loss. IMO.

We're going to jack the Giants. Then comes SD and NO. I'm praying we beat SD at home (and I'm not sure we can). If we don't, we'll be 1-1 in Dec heading into the road game in New Orleans and that game becomes a big, ******** litmus test for the DC 'faithful.'

Great minds, and apparently also Idgit and tomson75, think alike.

Norm is just another 8-8, 7-9, 6-10, 5-11, etc., etc., preseason prognosticator who's becoming a bit antsy eleven games into the season. It was bound to happen sooner or later. It's just that it's happened later than what was first assumed.
