Dallas has four RFA's.

Barber:
Canty:
LaDoucuer:
Dallas will keep all of these.

Thompson:
If he comes back it will be a one year thing for the league minmum

UFA:
Julius Jones
Gone

Keith Davis:
They'll want to keep him for ST and depth but other teams may want him as well. NFL teams are understanding the value of good special teams players and will go after them from other rosters.

Nate Jones:
Jaque Reeves:
You would like to think Dallas can improve at this position

Ken Hamlin:
Keep him. Thank God for Ken Hamlin this year.

Flo Adams:
Flo will be 33.5 years old when next season starts. He had a pretty solid year. The question is how you reward him. What if Parcells gets involved? Flo may have options around the league. Dallas has drafted 3 OT recently. I believe Free was drafted to replace Flo. Dallas will have to decide where the money goes.

The Draft
CB WR RB are all there when the Cleveland pick comes up. You have to rank what's left in other rounds. You need to balance here. Depth at RB and WR is very good. I think they go CB. There seems to be a fair amount of quality at all three positions this year and that puts Dallas in a good position.

Can't we franchise Flo? That sounds like the best option for next year.

Yes. Whatever would we have done without all the missed tackles, and ability to catch fly balls?

I enjoy Hamlin being here - but Thank God for Ken Hamlin? Come on, Mr. Norm.

Flozell was flat footed and immobile in the second half. He needs to go and take his "False Start" penalties with him.

Some team will pay him big money and will regret their decision before the end of next season.

That is a VERY expensive option at LT and would have significant cap implications (albeit for only one year). This is a big decision for a team trying to win now. We'll see.

Flo was a monster at LT this season. Look around the league, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone better.

My worry is that it was contractually motivated, and wouldn't be the same if we handed him a new contract. Maybe a year of franchising IS in order, to see if we have the answer on the roster for a replacement. He was SO good this year, you never want to lose that.

Super, we really cut down on blown coverages and confusion and 20 yd + plays this season and Hamlin was a major reason. We REALLY need to lock him up.

Kind of a Bob Sanders thing.

Did we cut down on those things because of Hamlin? Or because the whole unit played better? Or because the way to attack our current defense is not to air the ball out, rather to take the short and intermediate routes to negate the pressure?

Impossible to tell.

But I don't think Hamlin was some sort of godsend that couldn't be filled by any other player. He made his share of mistakes this year, too. We just get too worked up about the other safety's screw-ups to notice Hamlin's.

Super, how long have we looked for someone back there to help us and it worked? REALLY think about that.

Try REALLY thinking about what I said, as well. The fact that Hamlin has been better than Dixon, Davis, Watkins, and others on it's own is about as impressive as me saying I've got a larger ***** than my sister. Was Hamlin the reason we gave up fewer large pass plays? Or was it improved play from everyone else, a different defense with different weaknesses? Our improved pass defense is not concrete evidence that Hamlin is a godsend.

He's a pretty nice player. It'd be nice to keep him around. That's all.

And that's the problem. Everything was blamed on him if it was his fault or not. Christ, look at some of the posts the last 2 days, a thread about a complete different topic will be littered with "and Roy has got to go" posts.

I have thought about it and the only SMART move is to keep Hamlin as long as his price is not too high.

I'm sure Washington would go after Hamlin if he became available... I'd say at least try to get a bargain contract out of him if not let him go.

We have to get cheaper and younger.

I hope we learned out lesson the last time when we tried to keep aging veterans too long.

We need to know when to way when.

Yeah but it'll cost us about $10M and eat up about two thirds of our available cap space if what I've been reading is correct.

We are the 4th youngest team and if we lose two of our older players in Terry Glenn and Flozell we would get even younger. I wouldnt mind bringing in a few vets.
