Normally failure creates change

I say this over and over and over you guys need to wrap your heads around what failure actually looks like. You might think this season has been a failure. We have a QB who leads the league in yards. We had the most prime time games and probably highest viewership. We had a WR that was talked about all season. Massive trades involving "big time" stars that was the talk all season. Jersey sales through the roof. Ticket prices through the roof. More fun than you could ever possibly hope for. If you think in any way shape or form that this season was not a massive success for this franchise then you need to wake up and start paying attention.

Missing the playoffs sucks, and so does early exits from the playoffs.

Where we differ is definition of success. I believe an NFL team’s success is always tied to winning. If you have a different definition that’s fine.

And I agree that every Cowboys season is fun. Even the bad seasons. But I cannot count a season as “successful” when we don’t make the playoffs. And when we’ve only made the playoffs 42% this century. That’s not success to me.

Jersey and ticket sales? Meh. Wins? Everything. Again that’s just my take.
Amen. Every year is a success for the Jones bank accounts but for us fans, it’s been awhile since we’ve seen a successful season.

Thank you, Jerry,, we oughtta know better.

Eddie I hear what you’re saying, but how does Philly afford to make all those moves and keep all those players while paying Hurts $51 million?

Or the chargers, bills, and even the jaguars who are going to make the playoffs while paying their QBs over $50 million a yr? The 11-3 rams just extended Stafford two more years at nearly $50 million a year. How are they doing it?

Dak is overpaid for sure but not much more than many of the QBs who are on teams loaded with talent and headed to the playoffs. Besides, who decided to pay Dak $60 million a yr?
Dak did, it's his fault. Jerry gave him a blank check and told him he could do whatever he wanted.

Dallas needs DOGS, period. Rehashes of middling players that have never won anything and been mercenaries like Clowney. Is NOT IT.
Agreed, but we aren't talking about starters; we are talking about filling out a roster and having a rotation. We only have 2 first round picks, and while there's plenty of money to pay the key players, you need to sign lower tier rotational guys. Clowney has been a great 1 year contract and has become our best DE for a mere 6 million. We can afford to sign 2-3 vets in the 6-10 million category to fill out the rotation and give us something at the position prior to the draft. Players like Clowney and Fowler are always available every year. You don't want your roster to be so bad that they are starting for you, but you definitely need players like that.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for better results. If they're not going to hire a GM, they should atleast hire external consultants to tell them what they should be doing then they can still take credit.

I will say the Williams trade was a nice add, but will be a total waste without a competent defensive mind and adding investing at LB and secondary.
They've hired outside consultants. A couple good ones too.... The problem is they think they know everything and don't listen to the consultants...

For the 15th time in the last 26 seasons, our Dallas Cowboys will not be participants in the NFL playoffs. That means since 2000, we have made the playoffs 42% of the time. When we’ve made the playoffs, we’ve won a single wild card game 40% of the time. We can’t get better without first admitting we are not a very good football team. And it was obvious all year.

We are just a few weeks from the start of a very important off-season. An off-season where if this front office does not change its ways in acquiring more quality NFL talent, only a miracle from Lady Luck will prevent us from missing the playoffs again.

In short, if JJ and his sidekick son don’t change their ways, expect the same kind of season next year..

Before the off-season starts, we will be saturated with the usual sales job from our owner/GM, gaslighting us with the ridiculous statement that he is “surprised” we didn’t make the playoffs. Most Cowboys fans are not surprised.

And he will be thrilled when too many Cowboys fans will blame the HC, DC, the QB and whoever else can be thrown under the party bus.

My 9 year old granddaughter apparently has a better understanding of what this team is when she sweetly and accurately said to me while watching a recent game with me, “Papa the Cowboys just aren’t very good are they?” Out of the mouth of a 9 year old comes more truth than we will ever get from our 83 year old GM.

So unless Jerry and Giggles admit that their cheap ways of roster building without serious participation in FA doesn’t work, we will be here again next year. Or realizing that hiring coaches because they’re friends and they make you feel comfortable is not the way to win.

In normal organizations, failure creates change. Because without major changes in how this team is run, we should not expect changes in results.
Operative word to this thread......normally.

I can't even read it. This guy steams my clams.
Did someone bang your funny bone today. LMAO the guy stea my clamps lol
it would be good to compare the money spent on offense compared to the defense to see if one side is not carried as much, and why.
do you really think money is the issue, lol, but at least you’re thinking

Trust me, the success of Javonte Williams this season will convince the Jones Boys they can keep shopping from the free agency bargain bin. And Jerry will answer any criticisms with a long-winded "look at what, ahhh, Javonte did for us last year, ahhh relative to the ahhh contract we were able to get him in here on..."

Ownership would consider this season to be another absolute slam dunk. Just like last season. They are succeeding in every metric they care about. Their metrics do not align with yours.

Thanks for the comforting news. If you weren't here to remind us that all the players and management are happy and the fans are getting screwed...we might have missed it.
I am not the one running around crying in my soup because there are no noodles when the man making the soup hates noodles.
