And give up a high draft pick for him??

I'll pass... besides, he'd eat up much too big a chunk of our cap room, limiting our ability to upgrade other areas of the roster...

No draft pick for the transition tag. And how much more than the 3.5m we save by cutting LA do you think he'd take up of our cap? 1m? Nors is right on this one- it's worth a shot.

we can offer Hutchinson a similar deal with a "poison pill" that the bears used successfully with the chiefs to get John Tait a few years ago. We could tie a very large bonus to something say if they have a running back lead the NFL in TDs you get a 7 million dollar bonus. The Seahawks won't match that since they have Alexander.

Yes and to correct Silver -- there is no draft pick compensation tied to him. We can sign him and Seattle does not match he's ours.

* OG Steve Hutchinson (Seattle) Sign him to an offer that Seattle can't match. Younger Pro Bowl guard makes Allen a Cap cut.
* Tight end Jeb Putzier (Broncos) –- Solid pass catcher who can Vertically spread a field. Tandem with Witten would be outstanding.
* NT - Ma ake Kemoeatu (Ravens) Massive NT will add solid rotation inside with Jason Ferguson as the 3-4 conversion is now almost complete.
* Offensive tackle Jon Runyan (Eagles) -- A nasty veteran right tackle, he’d bring an attitude and immediately improve the Cowboy's line
* Linebacker Bart Scott (Ravens) -- A backup and special teams dynamo for three years, he filled in for Ray Lewis at linebacker in 2005 and held his own. He has the physical qualities to play inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense .
* Free Safety Ty Law (Jets) One of the leagues premier ballhawks makes the move to FS for Coach Parcells and solidifies secondary

Not bad Nors, although its more like a wish list.

I'd be happy with

OG Steve Hutchinson

NT - Ma ake Kemoeatu

Even if the Cowboys do make it deep into the playoffs, I'd hate to see them be nothing more than a 1 year wonder. This team is old in the wrong places. I know a lot can happen in the offseason but as of today, there isn't much of a future;

WR- I like Clayton's up side but 2 - 3...hell, who's going to be the Cowboys #1 WR next year?

QB- We have a good QB who is in the twilite of his career and some experimental petri dishes as back ups who are questionable at best in taking this team to an 8-8 season if either had to start 16 games. Have any of you ever thought about what the '06 season would mean if Bledsoe was out for the year? It would mean start looking at '07. Maybe next year could happen in Aug or Sep.

OL- Flo, one year pro bowler, career under achiever. LA has been living off his name more than a Hilton. And after a fer years of drafting C/G, G. and T in ON THE FIRST DAY!...this team is still looking for and does not know who the left side of their OL is going to be.

RB- Unlike QB, if you have 2 or 3 productive RB's; who can move the chains RB's then you have more than enough

It is possible to make a push for "the dance" while also building for the future.
Hutchinson and Kemoeatu are the kind of players who you build with (especially if you suck at drafting after the 1st)

Of course, you're right... for some reason, I had it in my head that the Seasquawks had franchised him...

Simple brain cramp...
