Since Hostile is probably to modest to start this thread ( :laugh1: ) I will do it for him. Details of the bet are in the thread, basically Hostile said Paytons replacment would come from within and Nors said we would hire an outside guy. With the moves todsay hostil has been proven right and its time for Nors to pay up!

There's nothing modest about Hostile. The subject would have come up eventually.

In fairness I already made a comment about it saying I wonder how he will react.

Wait - Sporano was promoted to assistant coach, not offensive coordinator. From what I read, the bet was on the hiring of an OC...or did I not interpret that thread correctly?

I don't think we have an OC at this time.

Todd Haley was named "Passing game coordinator" which is the title Payton held

Here's the exact wording of his stance.

Either coordinator leaves he does not promote from within.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Payton left and Sparano was promoted from within.

Payton's title was passing coordinator/assistant head coach, we promoted two different coaches from within to replace Payton, so Nors should pay up twice.:lmao2:

I'm with you on Parcells - he just doesn't want to give too much control to the OC. A lot of these available coordinators are established and would want more say on game and play calling.

But Parcells named Palmer quarterbacks coach, leaving the pass-game coordinator and assistant head coach positions open. And while it's assumed Parcells will resume playing a big role in the offense again this year, probably even calling plays, much of Payton's coordinator-type duties will be divvied up between Palmer and Haley, promoted to pass-game coordinator.

And likely to appease Sparano for not being allowed the chance to possibly become Payton's offensive coordinator in New Orleans, Parcells gave him the assistant head coach title.

No OC named, Parcells likely calling plays now that Payton is gone. We have Payton gone and Palmer was brought in. Sure looks like they are divying up the OC job.... Between Palmer and Haley.

I don't see a defintive outcome to bet yet. But whatever - send it to the arbitration process!

Let the spinning begin.:lmao:

Payton's title was passing game coordinator...Haley was promoted from within...assistant head coach offense...Sparano just got the nod to that title.

You lost TWICE.:lmao2:

Payton called the plays and had OC responsinbilities.
Per article that is now divied up Haley/Palmer.

I don't see it clearcut who is OC. Is Sprano now calling offensive plays? He or Haley are doing that and not Palmer you win with no protest/arbitrage.

I know you don't. I'm not at all surprised.

No big deal I guess since I expected this.

We did not have an OC.

We still do not have an OC.

The guy who left job title has been split by two guys promoted from within.

Stop weaseling out you lost.

Very accurate take on bet. Payton handled the OC duties in 2005. He had play calling duty. He left and they brought Palmer in and reshuffled duties.

We have Haley who is like a 7 year WR coach and a seasoned veteran in Palmer who has been a NFL head coach, OC and play caller. I want to see the math on who is handling the OC duties before I give a concession speech.

Per DC.Com

And while it's assumed Parcells will resume playing a big role in the offense again this year, probably even calling plays, much of Payton's coordinator-type duties will be divvied up between Palmer and Haley, promoted to pass-game coordinator.

And likely to appease Sparano for not being allowed the chance to possibly become Payton's offensive coordinator in New Orleans, Parcells gave him the assistant head coach title.
