Norv's thoughts on our team

This is from Galloway, who started naming a "San Diego source" but has been drinking on his show and pretty much admits it's Norval himself. (As do all the other hosts.)

Says Ratliff is the best defensive lineman they played all year.

Ware is obviously special.

Spencer is, surprisingly to Galloway, a very good player.

SD has great respect for both our corners, Jenkins and (yes) Newman.

Our weak spots, they felt, were our D-ends and both safeties.

Also said they don't want to get run all over, but they'd rather get run on than have Romo throw it on them. But they did say if you could stop the main threat of Austin making huge plays on you, you'd be okay.

Just FYI.

Smart man that Norval. Wish he were here coaching our guys.

San Diego gave Roy williams the least respect you can.

Single man coverage and they pressed.

and he couldnt make a thing happen.

Didnt RW catch 4 passes for 74 yds? He also nearly ran through a few guys for a TD

I did see their guys interfere with him a couple times too, and nothing was called...as usual

I thought he had a decent game

What does Norv know? He's just an NFL Head Coach. We have real experts in here.

:madden:

What did say that goes against what the "experts" have been saying?

he should have had a huge day. he made one big play, and it was akward, he looked suprised the ball came his way, then to his credit he fought like crazy and made a play out of it.

but the way they played him he should have been unstoppable. they didnt dare play austin that way.

hopefully in the future roy makes people pay for that.

Take that you Newman haters!

I don't think anyone said Newman doesn't have talent. He just gets lazy and plays poor technique sometimes. He's getting up there in age for a CB, so he can't take downs off or play sloppy. Perhaps if he focused more in the game, he could focus less, more, while on the sideline, right?

Yes our safeties suck. Hamlin is worthless. Honeslty. Sensabaugh just doesnt seem to have much talent. Hes a 2nd stringer at best.

RS12, Totally agree...Parcells saw Spears and saw Leonard Marshall II. Thank God Jerry insisted we take Ware 1st and Spears would still be around.

I'm not a Roy fan. At all. But in all fairness to him, he has been getting mugged week after week.

You have a RW bias that is coming out and is getting totally irritating and downright stupid.

The nickel CB on him blitzed and instead of running his route he ran a hot route, caught the ball and then made a move on the LB. How did he look like he wasn't expecting the ball.

And they might have jammed him at the line but they hardly ever left one guy guarding him. They left 7 in the box for most of the day which is the reason they kept getting gashed and we kept running the ball. They chose not to get beaten by the pass.

In the drive where we ran everytime but once, they brought the 8th guy in the box once and that was when we threw to Roy. He beat his man easily but got PIed with but it wasn't called. Honestly, if you have this strong an opinion, at least you should be more informed.

He has, and he was clearly held yesterday when he was begging for the flag...I am not sure how that was missed in the open field like that.

however, I think he doesnt get the benefit of the doubt because he doesnt create much seperation and it just looks the same when their is holding and when their is not.

I have no bias towards him. I think he is just a good player.

and as far as informed goes, they were pressing him and when the ball was snapped on almost every first and second down the safety was coming back to the middle of the field like he was playing some sort of robber look or cover 3.

the only times they stayed deep and gave the 2 deep safety or cover 2 look was on third down.

not sure where you watched the game, but I couldnt take my eyes off of that yesterday, they just kept rolling the safety to the middle of the field when the ball was snapped. I am not sure like I said if it was cover 3 or some other look but they certainly seemed worried about witten and austin in the middle of the field and not to worried about williams on the sidelines.

If I am not up to your football intelligence then I am sorry. I never see guys get played like that at the stadium. I thought there was a big play waiting to happen in their somewhere and it never came. Maybe I am just an idiot and that is normal.

I'm sure we would've taken Merriman if we hadn't taken Ware.

Also, I'm rather positive that Parcells would've never taken Dwayne Goodrich in 2000 or Quincy and Tony Dixon in the 2nd round in 2001. Yeah, Thank God for Jerry.

That's because he isn't very good - JAG at #2 WR but playing like a good #3 WR. I really think we need to start working Ogletree in some here and admit what a colossal mistake the RW trade was. Depending on circumstances, it may be worth unloading his contract next year in FA if there are attractive alternatives out there.

First, I said "in MY opinion." I just used Norv's comments as my starting point.

Second, I said had he been a 5th it woulda been OK, so I'm saying he was a wasted 1st round pick.

Third, I'll ask you this. Knowing that this current team needs DE help (with Spears, Hatch, Bowen all FAs and JAGs), and knowing what you know about him and if he were available in this draft (I know there's a whole time continuum thing working here, but just go with me), would YOU spend this years FIRST round pick (assuming it's in the 20s) on Spears?

You took from that agreement that Spears was a wasted draft pick? Really?

That is sad, but i believe it. No doubt Roy is the weakest link on the offense...well other than Free.

No, Free is better than RW, or at least has more value.
