I was looking at an old Cowboys game on YouTube in the 80s. When I was watching the game I had an nostalgic moment. I use to love that old Texas Stadium look the chalky white sidelines the red lines at the 20. The dark blue end zones with the 70s style helmet. The puddle stains on the turf. I miss those time. With the rumor of us not always playing with the white jerseys. My youth seems to be slowly fading. Anyone else feel this way

I rewound that play on my vcr so many times I think I wore out the tape. And another thing, that was when we only had antenna tv and the game was fuzzy but boy what a great game it was!

Yes. Definitely. 100%. I still miss Texas Stadium. Cowboys Stadium will always feel like your dad's new home after he divorces your mom and gets remarried.

Nice long strides by Jeffcoat. Forgot how fluid he could be.

Not only is my youth starting to fade away, but so are my hero's.... I don't feel old - until I try to physically move like I thought I should still be able to or I'm trying to remember something specific???? But memories like this one (when reminded of it) sure make me feel warm inside.

Yes it started in March 1980 when this happened:

I always thought the field was pitiful for the talent that was being showcased. The crown and the hardness of that turf were very memorable very few left without bruises from contact with the field.

started watching the Cowboys when they were playing at the Cotton bowl, I attended the games the 1st season they played at Texas Stadium and was in ah of it. It was state of the art. Now we move on to ATT stadium where I hope they can bring championships to this home. Things change just a fact of life and while I will always have fond memories of the Cotton Bowl and Texas Stadium I do enjoy this current stadium as well.

After watching the vid I'm left with a couple things:

That was an ugly drop back. So ugly. Just so, so ugly. Like avert my eyes ugly.

Jeffcoat was faster than I remembered.

I recall my mom dropping off me and my friends to the games at Texas Stadium (I saw every home game there from 80-84)...she'd pull over to the shoulder of the freeway just adjacent to the stadium (can't recall which one) and we'd quickly hop out and run up an embankment (yeah...we were dumb teenagers)...jump a fence and then be in the already flowing crowd making its way to the stadium entrance. Seeing that cathedral was always a magical thing...like it was always for the first time. And we'd always wait in the parking lot after games to get autographs and say hey to the players (in many cases from both teams). Great days...

I played 4 years of high school playoffs on that field. Lots of memories but that place was turning into a POS. It was time to move on. I may be in the minority, but I really like Jerry World. I just don't like the location in Arlington.

Those days were completely gone for me once we became a dome team, which didn't take long after moving to Jerryworld. The first couple seasons the stadium was open when I went to games. Now it seems sealed like a tin can almost every time, even when the weather is accommodating. I'll always be a "football should be played on grass" guy - or at least outdoors. I hate that it's increasingly becoming Arena football on a larger stage, but that's where the money is these days - pass happy indoor games and multi-purpose arenas.

Compared to that, the color of the jerseys is of minor concern to me.

I guessing the person he "remarries" has money because I've never met a guy after a divorce that does.....

The "wearing the blue jerseys more" rumor was debunked by Rich Dalrymple a week or two ago. Just wearing the blues once at home on Thanksgiving and once on the road versus the Giants (I am really excited about the aesthetic of wearing blue vs. NY; it's been the same uniforms for both games for as long as I can remember).

Technically, the Cowboys could wear blue for every road game since the home team decides but of course that usually won't be the case.

As for the Giants, they wore white at home vs the Cowboys in the early 80s a few times. In those days they were looking for any edge they could get as Dallas had been beating them like a drum for some time.
