Taco Charlton
David Irving
Jake Tapper
Demarcus Lawrence
Benson Mayowa
Maliek Collins
Cedric Thornton
Tyrone Crawford
Stephen Paea
Damontre Moore

That could be a respectable defensive line
group if healthy.

Even before Taco I felt like this dline wasn't as bad as we made it out to be be. The problem is health issues for Crawford/Lawrence makes the entire line a crap shoot.

I think Irving and Collins are breakout stars waiting to happen.

I think Collins is going to be a force at 3-Tech

The kid got injured and missed training camp. But he still managed to waltz in, win the starting job, and get 5 sacks while doing it. How many rookies can do that?

Hopefully someone steps up as a dominant player, but there is value in having an 8 man rotation. I can see some of the logic in what they are doing.

Incredibly deep. Just needs a catalytic player to emerge. Most likely Collins IMO

Collins is going to be a big time player for us.

He's playing a position for this defense that is suited to have big sack numbers and big losses behind the line.

I agree but I would still like to add another productive DT to the mix

With Gregory, that's 11 right there, before we add anybody else. If we do add another player, he'd have to be somebody decidedly better than what we've got there already or he won't make it out of camp.

Sheldon Richardson for a 3rd next year would make it even better. Might as well go all in next season.

I think if Dallas can upgrade DT in this draft I would do so. I think there is potential in the 2nd to get a DT with a higher upside than what we currently have

There's definitely an opportunity to do it. But on that list, who you going to cut at DT, then? You've got Paea, Thornton, Crawford, Collins, and Irving who play or rotate in a fair amount. If we go up to 12 DLs, not counting CFAs, you're probably not carrying more than 10 on the roster. So you cut who? Gregory or Moore are the most likely candidates. I have a tough time seeing a significant enough upgrade there to justify another pick. Not when you've got a hole at CB and a hole at S still to fill.

A caveat to those claiming that since they are young they will get a lot better. THAT is not always true. They SHOULD improve but who knows how much?

Sometimes they decline as well and sometimes they just reach their ceiling

Very pleased with sticking to our priorities selecting Taco. If Smith and Tapper from last years draft can contribute with Collins and Irving continuing to develop we might have a core to build on the rest of our Jags to pressure the QB.

Don't forget Mayowa. Easy to sleep on him but he was our best pass rusher when Marinelli woke him up by deactivating him.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Think of the GB playoff game. Still think that? That plus Charlton. Whoa. I bet a lot of teams are terrified.
