A nickname is a name of a person or thing other than its proper name. It may either substitute or be added to the proper name. It may be a familiar or truncated form of the proper name, such as Bob, Bobby, Rob, Robbie, Robin, and Bert for Robert.

The cowboys have one player with a recognizable nickname that has stuck, Marion "The Barbarian" Barber.
Oh I guess you can also add "BIGG" to that as well.
Why don't Romo, Ware, Ratliff, Newman, Witten or anyone else have nicknames that "Stick"?
We should put a list together, pick the names and refer to them as their nicknames from now on till they stick.
Here's a few ideas:
Romo = Moxie
Ware = BeWare
Ratliff = Hulk (cuz he always does that "Hulk Smash" dance after he gets a sack)
Newman = ...
Witten = No Quittin'
Brady James = Cinder Block (cuz he hits like one, but unfortunately he runs like one too)
Not all players need nicknames. Only the good ones.
What do you guys got?

T.O. is certainly a nickname. As is T-New. You simply don't know what a nickname is if you think they don't count.
Dictionary.com says...
a familiar form of a proper name, as Jim for James and Peg for Margaret.
a familiar name for a person (often a shortened version of a person's given name)*; "Joe's mother would not use his nickname and always called him Joseph"; "Henry's nickname was Slim"
*So even if T-New is an "abbreviation", it is still a nickname by definition.
And T.O. is a familiar name for Terrell Owens, thus making it a nickname.
But thanks for playing.

This isn't one of those threads.
