The 4th and 5th round should still be rounds where you’re picking upside with starter potential and neither one of these guys are that.

Both of these guys may end up being solid role players but I’m not taking a guy that has no chance of being a starter in the 4th and 5th rounds.

Save that for the tail end and udfa.

Dalton Schultz is a starter day one.

What makes you think neither has starter potential?

I’m not saying that I study all of these players as much as the rest of this board does(sarcasm) but from the scouting reports...it seems like both of these guys are high upside guys with the ability to improve immensely on the next level.

Maybe we view the draft differently. If you’re looking for starters past the 3rd round, I think you’re probably wishing for too much. I think you should look for traits that you can develop and both of the picks today seem to have traits that you can build upon on the next level.

No disrespect to your expertise intended, but according to NFL.com (and others) Armstrong and Schultz do have starter potential.

I'm not going to write them off before the ink has dried on their selection cards.

Schultz doesn’t have starter potential? He has the potential to be our starter this year.

I don't know that it will be this year and I really thought they would go with different positions (RB, WLB) in the 4th but both these guys have potential. Two years ago we took Anthony Brown and Kavon Frazier in the 6th, neither guy may end up a starter but they were excellent value at those spots.

Welcome to every Cowboys draft ever. Their board and that of the media/fans always looks alot different.

Fortunately this has shown me how often times the draft mags dont have a clue. Unfortunately it backfires as well. Difference these days is McClay.

Cmon man. Cheer up. The glass is half full.

Armstrong is too small for 3 downs.

Schultz is just a guy. No special traits. Complete jag.

Any pick after the 3rd round is around 50/50 to make the roster. Probably about 25% to make a meaningful contribution.

By default sure... Schultz may start because the TE room is lacking.

He’ll be replaced the first chance Dallas gets.
Not if he ends up being their best run blocking TE. Getting harder to find and this offense depends on those.

I don’t like this line of thinking but it’s probably statistically true but it’s because you’re picking guys like Armstrong and Schultz who are just limited players.

I’d rather swing for the fence with these picks then swing for the base hit.
