Not starting Romo in playoffs means decreased trade value

If Dak starts over Romo in the playoffs other teams will use this against us in trade negotiations. Teams will say Romo is either not healthy or not the same player he was in 14' . You chose Dak in the playoffs over Romo. You chose a rookie over a vet with 3rd highest QBR he must be a shell of the player he once was. You must not value Romos experience why should we ? Result much less trade value. If Romo starts in playoffs even if he is rusty shows he can take a hit shows he has adequate mobility he has much more value because of his experience but if we do not value that experience other teams will not either. If we're going to go with Dak in the playoffs we would have been better served to move him before the deadline.

The unknown will go down more popular than a guy who either goes out there and stinks it up, or gets injured.

That's right, if teams don't see him play, they can only go by 2014 which was great. If they see him play now, he gets injured or plays horribly or whatever, trade value WAY down.

I think Jerry feels Tony has more value to us as a backup during a Super Bowl run than whatever we could have received for him in a trade. Actually, I don't think it enters the picture at all.

I disagree in fact I believe teams will pass to see if they can entice him out of retirement which means no trade value.

How many teams desperately need a QB, and I mean DESPERATELY? Those teams will see Romo, see 2014 and believe he could put them where they want to go. Don't underestimate a desperate team.

No in negotiations they know if they pass he will simply retire then a team will pick him up put him on a one year incentive contract. No need to trade for him.

Romos not going to want to go to a desperate team. Romo will go to a contender not a desperate team.

Denver is pretty desperate right now, I'd think Arizona is, and few more that are in contention.

They are not desperate Lol. Cleveland is desperate but Romos not going to go to Cleveland. All they have to do is wait for him to retire then they pick him up.

Have it your way, but we'll see what reality tells us. When the season ends, teams don't know what will happen with Romo. Teams desperately in need a QB will have decisions to make. If they wait to see what will happen, whether he retires, or cut, or whatever, they could lose out. Just saying...

I'm not foolish enough to think that the Cowboys Organization uses fan discussions to make discisions. However this is exactly what other teams will use against the Cowboys it's only logical they would. This being said I don't expect the Cowboys will get much trade value if any at all if Romo doesn't play this year n show he is still a viable option ( meaning how's his mobility can he take a hit) . Romo knows where he wants to go most likely Denver n Denver most likely knows that as well all they have to do is wait for his retirement then scoop him up. However if he plays looks descent doesn't get injuried the Cowboys say he's going to come back next year to complete for the job now you will get some value.
