Not sure if its been discussed but what about Kerry Rhodes?

he's always had a rep of someone who loves the things that come with football more than the actual game.

He's still managed a pretty damn good career despite this....so unless he's just not interested in playing anymore it I dont see why it would be a problem.

I get why hes not on AZ anymore, but if he really does want to play still there's no way he's still sitting on that 3M price. Idk, maybe he really isn't interested in playing anymore. Either that or the NFL really has bigger problems than we thought.

Potential headaches aside, I agree with this.

I'm good with rolling with Will Allen, because to me they're what and what as players. Too early in the season to start panicking over the S spot. We need to get the dl/ol shored up.

Kerry Rhoads is the MUCH better safety, imo.. but if its really a concern that him being gay would be a locker room divider than i guess just stick with what we have.

Personally, i'd rather see Wilcox on the field than Allen.

There was a whole blow up in the situation where a guy (not sure if it was the publicist) claimed they were in a sexual relationship, Rhodes denied the allegations which ended up with the guy posting images and audio/video of them talking and flirting around town and at his home.

I agree that it shouldn't be a reason that he's unemployed in 2013, but I also agree with Woody that we shouldn't be in panic mode as far as the S position just yet. 1 game in.

Being gay shouldn't be a reason for anyone not to sign him. But he sure as heck can't deny he is gay with those photos online.

This is pretty sick if this is why he's not on a team. It's funny how all these athletes try to come off as open minded. Everybody was supportive of Jason Collins yet he wasn't signed to any team. You could argue he wasn't on a team because he sucked but you can't argue that about Kerry Rhodes. This guy is a good player. Our society is pretty sexist and genderist. Guys are comfortable playing alongside a supposed serial rapist of women but not comfortable playing alongside a supposed homosexual.

Agree. There are guys who would have no problem playing with Aaron Hernandez (Based on the tweets after he was arrested)

I think Church and Wilcox are our future. If Matt Johnson ever gets healthy, he can be effective too.

By the way, did anyone see the Ravens game? How is Matt Elam doing?

If he really turned down 3m from AZ, it's pretty obvious he doesn't want to play anymore.

I think a team would accept a gay teammate if he came out after being on a team for a few years. I don't think a team would be comfortable bringing in an openly gay FA just yet. No one wants to be under that initial media firestorm.

look, I personally wouldn't want ANY dude even IN my bedroom, let alone without a shirt on...but, who gives a rats *** if he is gay? Can he play football? I can't believe that 32 GM's passed on him if they all believe he is gay....who cares...

For me i'm ready to roll with Wilcox and Church at safety. I think Wilcox is starter in a few more weeks anyways then this us a non issue. Had we signed Rhodes and not Allen sure but since we signed Allen no way we sign another vet unless Byrd or Weddle hit the market.

again, Arizona offered him a one year $3million dollar contract, so him allegedly being gay isnt the sole reason or perhaps not even the predominant reason why he is unsigned.

He's only 31 and a lot of metrics have him as a top 5 safety in football last year. Not exactly crazy for him to think that he could get more than 1 year and 3 million. Especially after Goldson's ridiculous contract.

yea, he posted pictures online with his publicist and him sitting on a bed with no shirt on (publicist is gay). there wasn't anything intimate going on, so I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that he's gay, and as I alluded to earlier, it's not necessarily why he doesn't have a job.

FWIW, there is a ******** article that says Arizona offered him a 1 year deal for $3 million and he passed because he thought he could get more in free agency. So again, he's more unemployed due to his own perceived value versus the value NFL teams place on him.

agree, and he won't get 3 million anywhere else

Out of all the teams in this league that could hold a gay player, I would think ours could easily. The captains of this team aren't exactly known for being shallow, and immoral. Romo, Witten, Ware and Lee all seem more than capable of holding the team accountable.

No, but the Dallas media hacks would make it a big issue. The players, coaches, etc.. would constantly have to answer questions about the subject.

I think its silly, but pretty safe to assume that some of the teams passed on him because of the gay rumors.

If the guy can still play, it shouldnt matter if he's gay or not. But the reality is that the majority of players would be uncomfortable with an openly gay teammate in the locker room.
