He presents a clear upgrade and its not like he'd be blocking any younger players at the positions. Not to mention, his cost at this point would be pretty minimal. 4 interceptions and 11 pass breakups last year so he's definitely not over the hill, no idea why he doesn't have a team.

I can think of one huge reason why he doesn't have a team.

No GM wants to bother with the potential distractions for a Safety. If he were an all-pro caliber franchise QB or elite DE or something, that would be one thing. But a safety? Just find another decent one or draft one and move on.

I haven't been keeping up with NFL news as of late but what distractions exactly? Unless you mean him possibly being gay...which shouldn't be an issue at all.

That's exactly what I am talking about. And while it SHOULDN'T be an issue at all in a perfect world.....it is. And I don't think any GM wants the potential headache when the payoff isn't that great. Again, this is a safety we are talking about. He's good. Not great.

TM1119, the reason he doesn't have a team is because there is a 99.9% chance he is gay. It is what it is. I think it is wrong but I don't own a football team.

I wouldn't have minded at the beginning of the offseason, but at this point I'd pass.

Potential headaches aside, I agree with this.

I'm good with rolling with Will Allen, because to me they're what and what as players. Too early in the season to start panicking over the S spot. We need to get the dl/ol shored up.

I really don't think it's that big of a deal, truth is many vets who are used to making larger sums are often unemployed until a team becomes desperate. Kerry Rhodes has proven to be a good player, so barring him coming in and performing poorly, I doubt it would be a problem. Now if it was an unproven player, that would be different.

LOL. He get's that 0.01 because he denied it. Even after the pictures came out

aw come on, .01% for denying it? Cut Rhodes a break, unless you mean to tell me that you don't sit on a bed casually with any of your gay friends with no shirt on?

Wow, apparently I've been under a rock because I had no clue of him being gay, or whatever the situation is. Either way we should still sign him. Pretty damn sad that its still an issue in the year 2013 if thats really why he doesn't have a job.

yea, he posted pictures online with his publicist and him sitting on a bed with no shirt on (publicist is gay). there wasn't anything intimate going on, so I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that he's gay, and as I alluded to earlier, it's not necessarily why he doesn't have a job.

FWIW, there is a ******** article that says Arizona offered him a 1 year deal for $3 million and he passed because he thought he could get more in free agency. So again, he's more unemployed due to his own perceived value versus the value NFL teams place on him.

Try google images and come back and tell me he isn't gay. It goes beyond that one picture.

Still doesn't matter. He should be on a team. Arizona said they let him go over contract issues

I've been under the same rock, apparently. I can't believe the only reason he's not on a roster is something so silly. There must be something else going on, right?

He was under contract with Arizona. It has been reported to the local media (I live in Phoenix) that the front office went to him to extend his contract and he refused. Instead of letting him play out his final year the team cut him. The day he arrived in AZ the local media called him Hollywood saying that he was more interested in being a movie star than a football player. So maybe he doesn't want to play anymore? Local Arizona fans are split on it (Az is more backward than Texas). Some want him back and others are still stuck on him being gay and want no part of him.

he's always had a rep of someone who loves the things that come with football more than the actual game.

Ok. This makes some more sense, then. Still, if they guy can play, that's usually enough. Maybe the accumulation of everything just puts it over the top.
