Not Trying To Get Ahead Of Ourselves But... What RB Does McFadden Remind You Of ?...

...I know a lot of people mention Eric Dickerson because of their similar heights, but Dickerson ran completely upright. The former player McFadden reminds me of when I watch him run is O.J. Simpson.

McFadden has long legs like O.J. and they both run a little pigeon-toed which gives them a unique look as they run through the defense. The blinding speed of McFadden also is very reminsicent of "The Juice".

Do any other old timers see the resemblance to O. J.? IMO, O.J. was one of the most amazing runners in NFL History. In his prime he was on a completely different level than the players on the other side of the ball.

I'd say OJ or even Adrian Peterson. Dickerson was fast, but not that fast. McFadden has such rare unique speed and gets so much out of the smallest creases. I don't think we get him because Cleveland will somehow find a way to be good, but the kid is special.

Man, he sure does have some long-skinny legs below the knee. If he had normal lower legs, he'd be 5'11".

I think he has the same body style and runs like Robert Smith, former Viking.

I hope not. RS was a good runningback, but not considered a top prospect like McFadden who could be chosen #1 overall.

Man.... it seems like rbs who were chosen #1 overall are no longer around anymore like Bo Jackson and LT.

Since I haven't seen as much film on McFadden, how does he compare to LT and Bo?

I hope I will be forgiven for this.

He runs hard and has breakaway speed.

He can catch the ball out of the backfield or the slot.

He can pass the ball.

He will pick up blitzers.

Walter Payton.

Now...that's a serious comparison. From all the clips I have seen, I don't think you could compare him to Sweetness. There is no one like WP!

I've seen OJ run in his prime and McFadden does not compare to OJ.

If I had to compare him to someone it would be Eric Dickerson or even Adrian Peterson.

OJ had more wiggle in his running stride than McFadden. OJ's running style was in between Gale Sayers and Dickerson.

Dickerson, Peterson and McFadden have moves, but they don't cut on the time like OJ could.

O.J. Simpson had a fairly unique kind of body posture as he ran. Sort of hunchbacked.

To me, Simpson didn't look particularly fast when he ran (despite the fact that he outran everybody). Simpson didn't have the electric quickness kind of component (of, say, Billy Sims), but he knew how to throw a hip fake.

Being a Hog fan, I have seen most of McFadden's runs as a Razorback. He is a combo speed/power back - so he is definitely not a pure speed back like OJ. He has an awesome stiff arm. If he has two yards to the end zone, it will take more than one player to stop him - two will probably not get it done. He's not a classic "bouncer" like Payton or Emmit. Dickerson is probably a pretty good comparison. I've thought he is similar to Larry Johnson - though probably a little more speed and a little less power than Johnson. He's not really like Bo - though Bo's old Auburn coach said that McFadden is the best the SEC has seen since Bo.

I was looking for the word to describe his running style. I was going to say it was more hunched over.

OJ ran slightly lower than Peterson, McFadden and Dickerson. And he was extremely powerful. Because of his weight and height, he didn't look like a fast back but, IIRC, he was a sprint champion in high school.

If Pat Dye said that, then we'd better hope Cleveland loses all its games and McFadden decides to turn pro. Bo was an incredible runner and, IMO, would have been the best back ever had he devoted himself strictly to football and not incurred injury.

We just got finished this draft and now I'm excited about the next one.

Go Cowboys - and every team playing the Browns this year. :D
