Not worried about the run defense today

Better to play soft zone and make them run 13 plays for 10 minutes every drive, then full on “run commit” and give up 2 deep balls on 2 throws and let them back in the game.

The game was over and they ran in garbage time while we protected the lead.

yes, in the future, Hankins, osi, LVE, Wilson (sub lb) need to play the run better. We have time to improve before the playoffs. Hopefully, Hankins is the missing piece to the puzzle.

I think the Cowboys know this too. They sat Gallimore last week. Hill this week. It would not surprise me if we see then sit Watkins and activate Gallimore and Hill next game. They seem to be trying different combinations to see if they can find on that works. I think they were worse this week than last but the Bear do present a problem the Lions do not.

I would be worried about to run defense, it’s been a problem all season and it’s bound to bite us when the crunch games arrive. Some of our guys on defense are getting beat up including Parsons.

The Bears run the ball better than anyone. Per Baldinger, they can run it effectively and out of different formations, personnel than any team in the league.

having said that, yeah still worried about this run defense.

Not sure we are putting the best personnel on the field to try to stop the run and it isn’t a priority in our scheme. D is focused on stopping the passing game, getting sacks, forcing turnovers and playing bend/not break defense.

Look yeah we got gashed but a lot of running QBs do that to us. If Chicago doesn’t have Fields who’s an elite runner Dallas has 8 sacks. We definitely need to figure out a way to stop letting runners get outside.

Our run stopping problems cannot be fixed by one player. our defensive ends get up the field too quick leaving gaping holes between them and our defensive tackles. So yes, our tackles have been pushed around, but most of the long runs are coming on the edges.

Remember the entire secondary was hurt today except Diggs. Brown, Lewis, hooker, Kearse, Wilson all missed time.

If we “run committed”, we would have got roasted deep and likely lost the game on a few big plays. We protected the secondary and played smart and made them march and burn time….and lose.

we have time to fix this. Hankins, osi and good lb play from clark can make a big difference.

Again, not worried about today. They coached smart. Long term, there is time to improve.

Apparently, giving up 200 yds rushing isn't that important. We found out today that you can do that and STILL win by 20

Considering the top 3 threats in the NFC are Philadelphia (Hurts/Read Option), Vikings (Dalvin) and SF (running is the Shanahans thing) run defense should be a big concern.

I've never seen more obvious holds in my life that allowed Fields to jailbreak before getting hammered.

Someone needs to say something to somebody. This cost us vs GB in 2016 no question.
