Not worried about the run defense today

What is your reasoning behind saying we missed Zeke? No way Zeke scores on some of those Pollard touchdowns.
As far as being balanced, we had 27 pass attempts vs 29 rushing. About balanced as you can get.
I think he means time of possession.

I've never seen more obvious holds in my life that allowed Fields to jailbreak before getting hammered.

Someone needs to say something to somebody. This cost us vs GB in 2016 no question.
Those holds are a part of the game. They're going to be allowed, we need to learn to play over it.

Better to play soft zone and make them run 13 plays for 10 minutes every drive, then full on “run commit” and give up 2 deep balls on 2 throws and let them back in the game.

The game was over and they ran in garbage time while we protected the lead.

yes, in the future, Hankins, osi, LVE, Wilson (sub lb) need to play the run better. We have time to improve before the playoffs. Hopefully, Hankins is the missing piece to the puzzle.

Again, not worried about today’s garbage time runs…

That's right.

Giving up run yards was in part by design.

Considering the top 3 threats in the NFC are Philadelphia (Hurts/Read Option), Vikings (Dalvin) and SF (running is the Shanahans thing) run defense should be a big concern.

Bingo. We face Hurts again and I was hoping we would see some positives in the run D today
That might bode well for that rematche

Average CHI rush by non-QB prior to 10/30/22 vs. all opponents:

5.19

Average CHI rush by non-QB on 10/30/22 vs. DAL:

5.14

Take home: We did almost none better, but also none worse than what CHI had averaged versus their previous opponents. Fields was the difference. It really does come down to containment.

That's fair, but we have to get rushing qbs figured out because Hurts as well as Jones can gut us. Need a plan for this moving forward.

Our run defense needs to improve if we want to make a deep run in the playoffs. Philly ran the ball down our throats the last 7 min of the 4thQ; Chicago hung around 200 yards on us; I think even Tampa Bay was able to run the ball effectively. Not even mentioning the QBs who have been able to exploit our run defense with their legs.

Our probable opponents in the playoffs will all have too-flight running games, so we need to fix it. I don’t subscribe to the theory that it’s not a problem because our offense can outscore theirs; our offense won’t be able to get on the field if our defense cannot prevent opponents from sustaining drives on the ground, keeping our offense off the field.

I think signing Hankins was a step in the right direction and I have faith that Dan Quinn can make the tweaks to our run defense.

That's fair.

And it aligns with the comment that it comes down to containment.

Maybe I shouldn't be quite so sure of our DC's competence and the talent of his group. But I don't really sense that it's a considerable leap of faith to believe Dan Quinn will have our guys ready on Christmas Eve.

Moreover, and maybe most importantly, I don't really sense that it's a considerable leap of faith to believe Dak will not give Hurts a short field multiple times, if at all.

But it's also true, this is football, and we're about a year removed from sensing this intense confidence right before the Denver debacle. Yet, that, also would seem to be a consideration in our favor, actually, in that it's just too fresh in the coaches' and players' minds to fail to maintain an appropriate sense of humility.
