Oh I know the fan context you stated. But the market is what the market is for QBs. They're the most important player on the field. No one thought Stafford was the best when he got paid either. Wentz and Goff got their deals last year so this year the price is higher for a QB you can argue is better than they are. But fans here really think the FO is going to try to reset that market? Not going to happen and that's just what people want because they don't like the amounts being given out. Key word, "given." It's always the players that take the flack but the owners give the amounts in the end yet barely get a scoff.
The crux of my post is that you can see a rumored offer, know nothing about the structure which is most important in a deal, and because Dak didn't jump at it, you're no longer a fan of his. This proves that you weren't a fan and that because it's money YOU would probably jump at, Dak's greedy for not taking it. Not a shred of investigation necessary about the contract's structure. You saw something to support the point of view you already had in you as well as everyone else "outraged" by Dak not taking the offer. So now because the eventual amount is going to be higher than fans want, they now wish to "punish" Dak by no longer being a fan. As I've said before, players don't deal in the piker currency of being liked. They're out to get theirs and that upsets people for some reason. It's true even in sports that don't have a salary cap, which makes for a good cover in the NFL. This isn't hard to see.
