Watched Ambar and Broaddus on Periscope:

  • LVE injured his ankle and sat out today. Supposedly minor.
  • Lewis is still playing with 2nd team. Brown doing 1st team. Broaddus thinks Lewis has to do some work to convince Richard he can start despite being shorter. Says he missed on a play against Allen Hurns today by not quite being long enough to reach the ball.
  • Rico had a chance to make a play at the goal line but got the ball ripped from him.
  • Jaylon has played well, and March-Lillard is doing a good job.
  • Lewis Neal has a hamstring issue.
  • Broaddus says Byron Jones has looked good. Kelly is moving back to safety for now.
  • Marquez White has made some plays.
  • Broaddus said Mike White didn’t have a good practice yesterday, and missed throws. He did a little better today, but Broaddus says he has to figure out how to get the ball out quicker.
  • Broaddus says his biggest standout from all of OTAs has been Jihad Ward. Says that trade may prove valuable. Says he’s given even Travis Frederick problems when he lines up 1T.
  • Conner Williams needs to add more strength and muscle to help him win some match-ups, as he often overextends when he gets beaten by strength.
  • Ambar notes the team mood and atmosphere has been positive compared to previous years around this time.
  • They both said Taco looks better and is using technique more. Dorance Armstrong is still trying to beat La’el with athleticism and not technique, like Taco did last year, to poor results.

Thanks for the update. But the only news that really matters is OTA's if someone gets injured and if someone isnt there or has off the field issues.

Thanks for posting.

Beware of Broaddus. He often has a narrative on players before watching them practice.

Taco: The general expectation was for him to improve technique.

Armstrong: He was expected to have raw technique.

Connor Williams: He was expected to need to gain power/weight.

Ward: DL is the common spot where Broaddus says a new or young player is giving one of the All-Pro OL issues.

I would rather not have a coach married to prototypes and just coach what they have.

That is one thing that good coaches do.

Say what you want about Wade Phillips, but he was/is a master at fitting what he believes in around the talent.

The problem with needing that prototype is that in today's league, good luck with having enough drafts to get those players. It is just a foolish endeavor.

I agree but every great coach had or has the type players he wants to fit his scheme.

Connor seems to be physically more ready to play OT rather than guard. Getting the most out of these players may mean flipping Collins and Connor. Doubt they do it, but maybe they should.
Bahahaha..not gonna happen, especially after two weeks of Otas!

Let’s wait till they get pads on.

If Ward is still causing havoc then we can start to get excited.

Shirts and shorts the DL has a huge advantage.

There is nothing you or I could do to watch Ward perform that might make that so.

What is there right now is propaganda and hearsay.

I'm just saying what Switzer brought compared to a 2nd round DL who can play multiple positions. It's looking good right now. I agree that the pads have to come on, but DL for a return man is a win no matter how it turns out.
