And shortly thereafter, Roger beat the living crap out of Clint in a fist fight, and we never saw Clint again.

You sure the PMs weren't from a mod? At least you didn't get benched. LOL

No. Positive. I think there are plenty of other posters on here who are more direct with their jokes still active. Intent wasn't to offend anyone.

You need to think out your jokes a little better. I had a good comeback for that line of yours but I probably would've got benched. lol

I think it's time we get back on topic before we both get benched.

Yeah and that would be my fault. As far as that day goes, I obviously can't speak on it. I just know the 70's was filled with every emotion imaginable. I missed the best part of the Landry era and I at least get to watch the entire history ALOT on my down time. I can only imagine the week in and out of the criticism Landry went through until we finally won it. He may not have survived today's expectations of quick results.

The first Cowboys game I ever watched was SB Vl so I never experienced the bumps and heartbreaks of the 60's or the Cowboys first SB appearance. When Landry took over the Cowboys expansion teams got the shaft starting off with the worst players imaginable. The Cowboys didn't even have a draft pick during their inaugural season in 1960. It was a rough go starting off as an expansion team during that era especially having to compete against Lombardi's great Packers teams. Fortunately Landry was given plenty of time to build the Cowboys from the ground up.

With all the money involved today and expansion teams given a chance to compete from day one picking from a pool of some pretty good players and having a top draft pick with tons of cap space coaches don't get much of a chance today. With all the money being thrown around it's a win now business, a cutthroat business.

Very true. I recall Carolina and Jacksonville being competitive after their inaugural season. Today's NFL leaves little room for error. You have to luck your way into a long term tenure in most cases.

You should've just said that.

Yeah, tell me about it that's the only bad thing about reliving these old games I keep thinking about how young I was back then. A few weeks before that 74 game my mom asked me to run into a grocery store and grab a box of napkins for her tupperware party. I saw a box that said "feminine napkins" and grabbed those thinking they would be perfect for a party with all women. I'll never forget the look on my moms face when she saw that box.

:lmao2:
