Now that Henson's going to Europe, what do you want to see?

Was gonna put this in the other thread, but I figured it deserved it's own thread.

I'm not a football expert by any stretch of the imagination.

So I'll be looking at his:

Pocket presence
Accuracy
Throwing motion, maybe?

I'm sure others will be looking at other things, but I'm kinda looking at the obvious stuff. My list may grow as the NFLE season grows.

To put it all in a nut shell; "the ability to sustain drives"-Accuracy- pocket presence-leadership-athleticism. (athleticism imagine that)

Just dropping in to put in my 2 cents on Henson to Europe, because my hopes for this team are still largely tied up with the development of this particular player.

I don't want to see DH in Europe at all, but since it seems to be inevitable...I just want to see this:

Olines in NFLE are invariably abysmal. I don't expect Drew to be playing behind a stone wall by any means. But I do expect him to exhibit sufficient mobility, quick reactions, and enough heads up spontaneity when things 'break down' for whatever small portion of Bill's cranium that is not encased in Bledsoe formulated cement to go 'hmmmm' when DH DOES create something out of nothing.

Other than that, just the hope Drew does not get hurt in what DO qualify as 'meaningless' games.

Loved the kid's "get to see Europe for free" quote, and at least now there'll be something to look forward to in early
April.

Later:)

I don't give a rip about the throwing motion, but I do want to see accurate throws hitting the receivers in stride for YAC. I hope he has a decent offensive line to give him a little protection. I'd also like to see him look off defenders and check down through his progression to find the open receiver. A little "escapability" would be nice too.

The kid is finally going to get a shot. I hope he gets with a team with at least a decent OL! I am looking forward to watching him. I still think he may have a future with the Cowboys.:)

I'd just like to see his team win and him be a big reason for that.

1. Footwork. It is so important I can't stress it enough. I want to see that he has some quick feet instead of a slow lumbering drop back. The number 1 way to be a low percentage passer is to throw when your feet aren't set right.

For the people who want a mobile QB, this kid can escape. In college he was very elusive. I personally don't care if a QB gains 1 yard rushing, but I like to see escapability.

2. Defensive reads. I want to see him run through progressions on receivers when he throws. Locking on to one guy will be a fatal flaw in the NFL. It's fine to have a safety net or favorite receiver, but don't lock onto him. Spread it around.

3. Pocket presence. Goes hand in hand with footwork, but there's more to it than that. The thing I could not stand about Hutch was that when the ends come in step up 1 step in the pocket and they go right by. He needs to be on the balls of his feet like Staubach was. Hutch was flat footed back there. Bledsoe is at times. It takes longer to move away when you are flat footed. You have to sense where the pressure is coming from. Knowing the defense helps.

4. Leadership. I don't want to see a FB talking out of place. He's in charge. Act like it.

I'm not sure what to think anymore.

On one hand, I think it's great that he's finally getting a chance to play.

On the other, I pray he doesn't get stuck behind a poor Oline that results in poor performance that could ultimately ruin his confidence. Cause if you can't succeed in Europe.....

Not that I'm comparing this situation to Hutch's.

As long as he completes his passes, I could care less about his throwing motion. It'd also be nice to see some pocket awareness. I'm also hoping he has a decent back to help out.

He needs to :

1) take the snap cleanly
2) drop back quicker

Everything about his game is slow.

i'd like to see him take advantage of his "shot". hopefully he will play good enough to shut up his bashers (i am one of them) and show Tuna he deserves a fair shot to be on the roster, maybe even higher on the depth chart.

as for his throwing motion, i do think it needs to change. i have seen highlights of him in college compared to the way he plays now. he throws like a 3rd baseman, not a QB. he strecthes his front leg way too far, and that adds too much time to his release.

at worst i hope he plays good enough to have other teams gain interest for a trade. at best, i hope he can show enough progress to give bledsoe a run for his money during the preseason.

count on this, if he does a bad job(good o-line or not) you can count on him being released and the 'Boys drafting another young QB in this year's draft.

honestly, it doesnt matter to me either way. as long as we can see a QB for the future on our roster.

The first thing I want to see is if he can even throw the football. And when I mean throw I mean throw a spiral. The last time I remember him throwing it looked like Pop Warner football.

To see him get beat our for the starting job, this way we could end the Romo/Henson debates.

Just kidding to see him become the MVP!!

I just hope to see him "burn it up" in Europe. That would give me a little more confidence that we may just have our QB of the future.

Jury is still out though.

I firmly believe, as long as Henson has even a decent OL, he will show what the hoopla is about him. Of course I would be anticipating to see if the change in machanics are finally settled and he wont be struggling with that anymore.

I do hope he gets to play with one or two decent recievers, since usually WR quality in NFL Europe is pretty bad too. One thing for certain, he will be the Super star of NFL Europe this year, regardless of how he plays, much like Hutchinson was when he played there, when every play was scrutinized.

At least for Henson, thats nothing new, since thats how it was when he was in Michigan.

Henson said with the scout team he is gettin a much better feel for when WRs break on their routes. I would like to see this in his games cuz if true it will help speed up his firin the ball.

I would also like to see him just play lites out and play so good that it makes Jerry Jones pressure Parcells into lettin Henson have a chance at competing for the starter job.

If Henson wins it great. We have the best QB. A much more athletic and mobile QB.

The Parcells attacks in these forums will go up alot if Henson plays great in Europe that is for sure.

Personally I'd like to see him take that league apart. I'd like to see him tear it up, just to cause a little controversy around here.

If he plays well at all there will be controversy.
