Now that Henson's going to Europe, what do you want to see?

Good opportunity for him but I will predict that his trip to NFL Europe will leave everyone with more questions about his ability and he may not even start for the squad he goes to.

- Mike G.

That will be interesting to see what happens here if that is indeed the case.

With Henson gone to Europe, look for us to sign a QB pretty soon, or take one 2nd day in the draft.

Was gonna put this in the other thread, but I figured it deserved it's own thread.

I'm not a football expert by any stretch of the imagination.

So I'll be looking at his:

Pocket presence
Accuracy
Throwing motion, maybe?

I'm sure others will be looking at other things, but I'm kinda looking at the obvious stuff. My list may grow as the NFLE season grows.

His footwork and pocket presence for starters.

Recognition of what the defense is doing.

No dropped snaps!!

Learn to throw the ball away if everybody is covered. Don't try to force it and end up making key mistakes.

Learn to be a leader.

And see how he does in crunch time when the game is on the line. Is he Mr. Clutch or the goat.

I don't give a rip about the throwing motion, but I do want to see accurate throws hitting the receivers in stride for YAC. I hope he has a decent offensive line to give him a little protection. I'd also like to see him look off defenders and check down through his progression to find the open receiver. A little "escapability" would be nice too.

Hitting WRs in stride would be nice, but we can't actually count on them catching it.

I think we'll need to take what we can from this. Henson is going to a situation where there's likely to be a well-below avg OL, and sparse running game and WRs who will have difficulty getting open and ing onto the ball.

Fortuantely, he'll be going up against pretty lousy D's too.

I'd ay we look for poise, pocket presence and relatively good accuracy. I don't expect phenominal stats.

Henson

just dont' screw the pooch! but seriously, expecting much from Henson in NFLE, or tell-tale signs of future success, or failure, in the NFL, is pretty pointless, it aint happening: different scheme, much slower pace, throwing to different WRs, poor supporting cast

I hope he lights it up..accuracy...bombs..mobility..ect..I hope we have a QB

I'm just looking for him to win the MVP of NFLE this season...

I think going to NFLE is the kiss of death. I think any realistic expectations of Henson ever starting for the Cowboys just went to about zero.

I think this is such a stupid train of thought.

If Henson goes to Europe and plays lights out, we know we have something in him. Sure it's against lesser talent than in the NFL, but he would also be outplaying the talent that's put against him.

If he fails in Europe and doesn't show any progression, then I don't think he'll be a Cowboy for too much longer.

But if Henson succeeds in NFLE, I'm betting we'll keep him and let him compete for the starting job in 2007.

I have no set expectations except that he gets to play, stays healthy and comes back ready to compete for the backup job.

I'd love to see him play with mobility in and out of the pocket, display good decision making and all that jazz but basicaly as long as he doesn't choke repeatedly in key situations I can live with pretty much anything.

IMHO the NFLE is for growing pains not the NFL.

Its easier to be easy on him when it doesn't cost us games.
I just couldn't survive another Carter/Hutch stretch.

Wow...you guys expect a great deal from Henson. I have a surprise for you. It may be NFLE, but the guy still has to earn a starting job. Frankly, I'll be pleasantly surprised if he even gets to play much...I'll be satisfied if he can hold onto a starting position all season and show improvement of any kind.

NFLE is the final liferaft on the NFL Titanic. If he's not in it, he's done.
