It needs to be someone w/serious motivational skills. This "the players are man enough to motivate themselves" crap is getting old and not working. I would also like to see someone that has the ability to put up w/a meddling owner and have his respect enough that the owner will allow him to be the coach, ala Jeff Fisher. Last would be someone fairly young, who if proves himself, could make this a long term gig. I believe part of Dallas' problem is continuity.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't want Cowher.

One reason is I know it's going to be Garrett.

But the other is he wouldn't know what to do with this offense. All these weapons would be wasted on his run the ball 90% of the time scheme. Do you really think that TO, Witten and Roy Williams would be used effectively with him? And do you think TO would remain happy here?

That guys seems to get more with less year after year than any other couch in the league. I second this choice.

I think Cowher has shown the flexibility with his offenses to play to hi strengths and to use the weapons that he has.

While his preference might be a strong running game, he's allowed his coordinators the freedom to try new things and go with what is working.

I remember of time when the Steelers were a bit pass-happy when Tommy Maddox was their QB.

I also remember the team trying to come up with ways to utilize weapons like Kordell Stewart and Antwaan Randal El effectively.

And he was able to work with a player like Burress, so he shouldn't have a problem with TO.

I'd be interested in Singletary if Garrett was willing to stay on as OC . I'd love to see Singletary as the HC , Garrett as the OC , Capers as the DC , and anybody else as the special teams coach .

I'm getting a little tired of the "experienced" coaches that have been around the league and are set in their ways . I'm more interested in an an up and coming coach with fire in his belly and something to prove to the NFL . Especially a guy who has played at a high level in the league and can relate better to the players than a Parcells/Phillips type .

More than anything I'd like to see old Wade rattle off about 9 wins in a row and a deep playoff run while laughing until his belly wiggled like a bowl full of jelly .

cowher or steve whats his name as defensive coodinator of giants

but most likely its jason garrett

that could change though with jerry jones if say romo comes back, you have roy williams, t o, barber, witten and jason garrett offense does nothing in the washington game, nada zip, then jerry jones may rethink his thoughts of garrett as head coach

Its not going to be a college coach.

And if it were, I certainly dont want Stoops.

Me either. But I would take Frank Beamer and his VT staff any day of the week.

I think we all believe it's going to be Garrett.

But if Jerry had to pick a college coach, it would come down to three guys he knows well.

1. Les Miles
2. Tommy Tuberville
3. Houston Nutt

Miles would be the best candidate, IMO, because he's got some NFL experience (Gailey's staff).

We will need a new HC soon, whether this season or right after the last game.

(I can only offer Stoops. But OK won't let him go and he already makes $3.5 mil and that is probably without endorsements. Pipe dream for us Stoops fans.)

Who are the top 5 NFL coaches/assistants or ex coaches who could be available to us immediately after the last regular season game?

Who are the top 5 college coaches you think could coach in the NFL and be available to us?

Just dont get a coach who's father was a coach - Wade Phillips, Mike Nolan, Jim Mora Jr, Mike (or David?) Shula. Guaranteed to not work.

However, if I had to live in reality, I'd probably choose Bill Cowher. I really don't want a coach learning on the job. I don't want Jason Garrett as head coach right now. In a few years, he'll probably be ready for that, but really, I just can't see promoting a guy from this staff when all we've seen this year is incompetence from every area of this coaching staff.

Good one!
Obviously not a yes man (except during the PacMan situation).
Knows the mechanics and has a glower that Michellin Man does not.
Consistently fields teams that are rough and ready to play.

I don't think JJ will go after a college coach. I think he's wary of the transition.

Here are a few names.

1. Cower - He's a proven winner in the PLAYOFFS and he's a great motivator. Plus, he's won with the 3-4 Defense. Now, does Cower definitely want to get back into coaching? I don't know.

2. Mike Holgrem (sp?) - Isn't he through this season at Seattle? I know he's having a very bad year. But look at his career. He's won with the Packers and he's won with Seattle. I DO know that guys like JJ and BP respect his teams and his coaching skills. What was Seattle before Holgrem took over? They never made it to the Super Bowl, that's for sure.

3. Garrett - He's probably the favorite, IMO. But he's going to improve his game as well over the next weeks to get the gig. Now, we know that Garrett his relatively young, motivated, bright, has been to Super Bowls as a player, etc., etc.

But can he win as a HEAD coach?

We already know guys like Cower can. Do you take the known or the unknown?

4. Spagnolo (sp?) - The DC from the Giants. Again, he's definitely an up and comer. JJ will probably have to return to the 4-3 base. Not sure IF JJ wants to do that, or not. But again, as a DC, he's a winner. Jury still out how that translates to a HC job.

Those are some guys off the top of my head.

Good ones.
Spag is the most intriguing. But I think the Giants have him locked up for now.

I've often said that it appears that Wade's chief qualification as HC is that he's the son of a former HC.
