Now that we know that Garrett is coming back and will not be taking the Rams job, what does it mean?

I would guess that Wade stays as HC, we promote Campo as DC, and Redball is the OC. Not that this excites me but that is what it is looking like now.

If we are to see Shanny here, JJ will have to fire some more coaches.

Wouldn't be interesting if JJ fires Garrett as a result of him being so willing to take the job

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but have you read other respones to this idea you have that Garrett shouldn't be interviewing for an open HC position.

Assistant coaches interview for HC openings when they are invited to. Assistants declining these invitations are the EXCEPTION.

If Jerry has any problem with Garrett, its because he believes Garrett did a poor job this year.

Dude.. what's with all this " promoting " of Dave Campo ?

Some of you people REALLY want a revolt.

Don't worry, this forum will have Garrett hired for 4 other jobs by 6 pm.

Chaos? Panic? General debauchery?

I'm guessing all of the above.

Agree.

Geez, I'd rather sign T.O. to a ten-year extension than have Campo as DC.

Two scenerios:

One: HC-Wade...OC-Garrett...DC-Capers

Two: HC-Shanny...OC-Garrett...DC-Phillips

I see scenerio one as the most likely.

Thoughts?

Or better yet:

HC Garrett, DC to be named, OC to be named

I would prefer scenario two, but I think you're right...counting on scenario one would be a safe bet.

There's also scenario three:

HC-Garrett...OC-?...DC-Phillips

Fixed it for you. Garrett seems to really like Capers.

But just thinking of something. I really can't see the Shanny/Garrett thing working. Shannahan would most likely sign a 4-7 year contract and I don't think Garrett would wait that long for the Cowboys HC spot.

My guess is that we will have Wade as HC, Garrett as OC, and ???? as DC. The reason I said Campo is because there have been a couple of reports saying they were going to promote Campo until the Garrett going to the Rams story broke.

If indeed Garrett is the coach in waiting, I beleive that it will be Capers.

1) Garrett would have his choice for DC once the waiting is over.
2) The big reason that Capers wasn't here last year was Stewart and now he is gone.

The only thing that would stop Capers is if there is something to the Shannahan to the Cowboys theory. I don't know how Shannahan/Capers would go down. And as I said earlier, can't see Garrett waiting for Shannahan to get out of the way.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is if Capers is the next DC, then I expect Garrett to be the next HC, whether this year or next. If it is someone else as DC, then it could very well be Shannahan this year or next. Just can't see a coaching lineup like this: Shanny-HC...Garrett-OC...Capers-DC. Although that wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I see NO way of keeping Garrett....the offense has lost all it's confidence in him and I don't see how they get it back. He just isn't ready to drive this train yet....

How is that 'better'?

This is the guy who couldn't succeed with more offensive talent than any other coach in the league.

This is the guy that didn't earn his $3 million from last year.

This is the guy that nobody else wants.

And it's 'better' if he gets a promotion in Dallas?

Sorry, I don't see it.

Let's promote Campo to HC.

Oh, wait, we've been there, done that...
