I don't care how quick Jay Ratliff is and I love him as a football player. Until we get a true nose tackle we will not stop the run on a consistient basis. Jay Ratliff went to the pro bowl because he had 6.5 sacks from the nose tackle position not because he stopped the run. Shaun Rogers,if healthy would be the equivalent to obtaining Haley. Imagine how much that would free up our inside LB's to just run and make plays. The base of a 3-4 is the nose and 2 OLB's but we have neither the GM nor the coach to see that fact. I hope this doesn't hurt us come december but I'm afraid it will. I just hope Jerry opens his eyes.

The Cowboys do not view NT the way fans do. All of this is on deaf ears. Ratliff is not moving.

Are you saying you know more about football than a NFL HC or GM?

Get your 3-4's straight kiddo. We play a 1 gap 3-4 where a quick penetrating d lineman like Rat can excel. If we played a hold the point of attack 2 gap style like we did when BP was here then you may have a point. Were hoping to be an aggressive attacking defense that makes teams react to us, VS us reacting to them. BIG difference between the Phillips 3-4 and the old chuck fairbanks stuff ran by Parcells.

ummmmmmmmmmmm...........NO..........I live in Michigan and use to watch this fat slob dog it all over the field for the Lions....and that was years ago. He's even fatter, slower, older and dumber now . Truly a horrible idea that will never come to fruition: thank God.

Two questions:

Who does Rogers play for now?

How'd that team do against the run this week?

Whoever can answer first gets fifty valuable internet knowledge points!

He played for Cleveland, which allowed 225 yards rushing.

Cha-ching!

I wasn't thinking of replacing Ratliff so much, but maybe we've got another dominating probowl calibre player we should consider replacing. Maybe Ware? Or we can consider trading for some fat journeyman TE we can start in place of Jason Witten. We could maybe move Witten to DT. I just hope Jerry opens his eyes about these moves, too.

Doesn't matter how much you free up the inside linebackers if they are not handling their gap responsibilities, which is what happened against Tampa Bay.

That's essentially why Dallas switched back to more of its basic defense against the Bucs, which the ILBs asked to do. Had nothing to do with Ratliff's play.

The Cowboys were stout against the run except for a couple of equations last year. We'll be fine.

People need to realize we don't use Ratliff as a traditional NT and that our DEs are our "run stuffers" and space eaters.

I don't care about 1 gap or 2 gap you need size in the middle and with Jay Ratliff at the nose opposing teams avg. 23 points/game and 4.2 avg. per run. There have been more teams that won the Super Bowl with D than O. I want to make teams one dimensional. Do u think for one second there is a team that fears our run defense especially after the Tampa Bay game. Yes we can stop teams that don't have good running games but look who are the top teams in the NFC most not all run the ball. You must first stop the run then game on.
