I don't want to defend the cop, who's pretty much an idiot. He obviously didn't know the statute, didn't understand it when he read it, and the ticket after the fact was a face saving measure because the transit authority understood that the busker was right about the statute. So, I agree with you there, completely. I just don't have a ton of sympathy for this particular busker because he was standing on a principle when he could also have easily just been accommodating without too much inconvenience.
I think the guy might have been sticking up for the other people in the same situation. But when I look at this objectively I can't say the busker was being rude he was desperate to try to get the point to the officer who was confused then after decided to be more wrong then initially wrong. I feel that at least half of police officers in that situation would admit they were wrong and said sorry and moved on. The thing is there was pressure from the crowd and the officer wanted to kinda give a middle finger to them that is what I most dislike about it.
