In no way did that article say that was the reason Jerry hired him, just that Garrett had some nice platitudes to say about Mike. Just like Garrett does about everyone.
There are other articles, and I meant to say he was one of the reasons. Jerry asked his opinion on Garrett in Garrett's exit interview and Garrett recommended him. So he was one of the reasons because Jerry has always listened to the Garrett family. But hey, if you don't want to believe it, that's fine. I can't find the exact article/clip that says it, but it's been 4 years and of course Jerry might have been drunk when he stated it.
