Jerry never hired McCarthy because Jason Garrett told him to. McCarthy was hired because Jerry was looking for an experienced head coach who had won a Super Bowl.

Jerry has stated in the past asking Garrett for advice on head coaches and McCarthy was Garrett's suggestion. But hey, you do you. It was advice given. But hey, deny that it happened all you want. I never said it was the only reason, but it was Garrett's recommendation.

Jerry gets advice from everyone that doesn’t mean he’s going to do what someone suggests. I’m sure a lot of coaches were suggested to him. Jerry makes the decisions. You’re way off base saying Garrett is the reason McCarthy is here. Garrett wanted to continue coaching the Cowboys.

I didn’t slander anyone, I simply mentioned that Garrett won more playoff games than Parcells and McCarthy. He won more playoff games than Gailey, Campo and Wade Phillips. You need to relax. Now someone will come in and claim I said Garrett was a great coach.

In no way did that article say that was the reason Jerry hired him, just that Garrett had some nice platitudes to say about Mike. Just like Garrett does about everyone.
