Denver's rush defense was ranked #25th in the league last year. I was surprised... no shocked, to see them jam up the Cowboy's running game to that extent.

7 vs 5 most of the time
Twist & delays

Yes, the OL struggled, but don't think we out schemed the Broncos

It's hard to get mad at our Oline or Dan Bailey, being they're the most consistent components of our team....But...They got ***** slapped yesterday, by an undersized front. These guys need to bounce back and never do that again.

It's the story of the game, imo, but I'm not seeing any commentary about it. They were giving so much ground, the DEN defense was in Dak's face all night.

It was like someone spiked their drinks on the plane with a powerful sedative.

It was simply not our line vs theirs.
It was our line vs their line, linebackers, and even a safety at times.
Unless we made them pay in the passing game, they were not backing out of that stacked box.
they lined up like the 85' Bears D alot..and then sent alot......

they had no fear of our passing game at all...........thats what shut down corners will do for you.

Agreed.

About every unit of the team caught flak.

Except for the offensive line which may have played worse than any other unit on the team.

I completely agree, it is the story of the game. It's inexplicable why that would be and I still don't accept it as anything but a fluke that our O-line can correct. I think it was more mental than anything else.

They put 8 men in the box and took away what Zeke does best.................run up the gut. I saw zero creativity getting him the ball in space or creative outside runs or sweeps much at all. He should have caught 10 balls yesterday.

different group of guys this year.

They had 6 or 7 on the line seemingly all day and were creating havoc and confusion. Miller was unblockable.

Not many teams have the talent or the guts to challenge teams at the line of scrimmage the way NY and Denver have the last two weeks. You have to have excellent corners and excellent interior players.

I imagine arizona will come out and try the exact thing but there secondary is no where near what NY and Denver roll out there. They have one slightly above average pass rusher in jones who shouldnt be a problem.

Many of us were talking about it in the game thread.

The left side of the line was a disaster yesterday. Green looked uninterested and Tyron looked stiff. They just kept trying to run over there though. And, say what you want about Collins, he did an admirable job for a dude in his second NFL game at RT against the best pure pass rusher in the game.

They Cowboys got outworked at every single position yesterday. That's the bottom line. And, to me, that's an identity issue with this team and one they've had since Garrett started calling the shots.

Patrick Peterson and the Honey Badger are pretty elite. While not as good as Denver, they will also present some of the same problems we saw in Denver. Can Garrett/Linehan come up with a counter if they do? That I'm not too confident on. At least with David Johnson out, we shouldn't be gashed as bad in the run game and their WR aren't as good overall as Denvers.

yea they need 3 or more players in the secondary to help them, they do not have the same kind of talent NY and Denver did. They also will not have the home field advantage Denver had.

I feared Mike McCoy calling play yesterday, he killed our defense in 13 with san diego and I fear the same of Arians next week. Arizona was dead and rose up yesterday and found a way to win against a terrible colts team so this is not the same challenge as Denver or NY but I still fear Arians.

But the 8th man in the box! If we only had Romo.

We don't and the guy taking his place needs to step up. 8-man front means you need to make them pay by throwing deep, if blitzing hit them with a slant. No dump off 5-yards from the line scrimmage.

I dont recall 8 men in the box, they were doing the same as NY and walking 6 or 7 up to the line and confusing Dak and the line. Can someone point out a play where they brought 8? I dont think it happened but dont know for sure, I think sometimes people fail to comprehend what bringing 8 really is.

Agreed. And our OL's greatest strength is run blocking. Cowboys came out to pass, pass, pass and pass some more. The running game was completely abandoned. Instead of dictating, the Cowboys got dictated. Happens way too many times on Garrett's teams, even when the talent is equal or better than opposing teams.

And enough with the RPO's on the goal line. Run the ball at least ONCE down there.
