Low risk, always love taking in former first round picks.

We could use another body especially if the Smith injury lingers...we know Chaz won’t last.

The Lions are still responsible for the remaining $1.56 million of Robinson's $3.32 million base salary for this season.

On June 15, 2017, Robinson was traded to the Detroit Lions for a 2018 sixth round draft pick

https://ramblinfan.com/2016/12/27/los-angeles-rams-greg-robinson-a-bust/

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Robinson has had the lowest starting LT grade ever since he was drafted. Robinson’s grades for 2014 and 2015 are 41.3 and 35.9. Far below the NFL average.

Besides Robinson’s poor performance, he has also been the most penalized player in the NFL for the last three seasons.

According to NFLPenalties.com, Robinson has committed 11 penalties on the season, tying for second most in the NFL. In total, Robinson has committed 35 penalties in his young NFL career, which leads all NFL players since he entered the league.

Not only is Robinson playing poorly, but he is also putting his team in constant tough situations. Los Angeles already has a struggling offense as it is, the last thing they need is the most penalized player at arguably the most important position besides quarterback.

What makes this year the most disappointing is Robinson’s inability to improve as a player.

During the 2016 off-season, Robinson received exclusive training from former NFL offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley at his training center in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to ESPN.com. This training focused on his footwork skills and a weight room geared to be a successful offensive lineman.

Is he even remotely athletic? If so, I wouldn't be surprised to see a team try to turn him into a Guard instead of a tackle.

Seems like it's much harder to have a reclamation project on a LT or RT. If they've proven to be a bust, it's really hard to coach them up and correct poor technique/habits. It's easier for interior linemen since the blocking is different.

Worked out with Jonathan Cooper. Should Cowboys take another shot?

Low cost, low risk.

6-5/332, only 25 years old

Why not if the cost is right.

Robinson's problem is that he doesn't know how to play OL in the pros. He has no punch whatsoever, his footwork sucks, he leans way too far forward in his 3 point stance (played in 2 point stance in Auburn) and his recognition of what DL are doing and their hand fighting technique is next to zero. The guy is battling his own old habits and thinking way too much. Plus he's just not nasty enough, don't see a mean streak.

But a guy with his athleticism (4.9 40), power (32 bench) and size (6'5 330) would be a good fit for the Cowboys zone scheme. He is under no pressure to perform right away and coaches can be patient with him while they work to break all his bad habits and teach him the pro game.

May have to eventually move inside or learn the hug technique if he does not develop punch and better kick slide.

I wonder if the best move for him wouldn't be to drop 40 - 50 lbs and become a situational inline blocking TE.

As mentioned a couple posts up, he worked out of a 2pt stance at Auburn and has struggled learning pro OT technique from a down position. His combine workout and tape at Auburn show a very agile big man with lateral ability who can move well at 320 and get to the 2nd level. How much better would he move at 275? Still only 25. Plenty of time for a conversion and the previous expectations (and guaranteed money) that come with being the 2nd overall pick are gone. Not expecting him to really be a receiver. If he can also run 5 yards inside the 10, turn around and catch something a half dozen times per year it's gravy.

As far as a move inside to G, that's where he played in HS and early on in college.

Mr. Bodi--- lets stay away from Robinson...i remember the hype on draft weekend that year for mr. Robinson......and especially after reading

your studies on him....yes we dodged a bullet on another former 1st round pick in Jonathon Cooper..who i believe is finding himself on the

cowboy line and is playing well...but lets not push it?.....we got some other lineman we are training...just my two cents

He's awful. Not sure there's a reason to bring him in this year as Green would take over either tackle spot.

Cooper was only a bust due to injuries and the Cardinals and Patriots moved on from him too quickly. From the sounds of it, the Browns were making Cooper a backup and Cooper asked to be released if they weren't going to make him the starter.

Robinson has been given every chance possible to start with the league and has stunk up the joint.
