yeah i should go reset...not really a big deal, just found it odd.

the new hd dvr from directv has been a terrible unit so far..I wish they would get this thing fixed

The very first one I got was a DUD. It would freeze up all the time. I was resetting it every 10-15 minutes. Very discouraging. I had them exchange it for a new one after I called them up and told them it was insanely hot to the touch when operating (lil truth stretching never hurt)

The second one they sent has been money in the bank. The whole family loves it. I think it's more of a QC thing than anything else. The technology itself is very good IMO (now that I have one that works like the Rock of Gibraltar).

Something like the combine- what would be the point in having it in HD? Speaking as someone who has been into home theater since before that term was even used; back in the early 90's, I have waited for real HD for a long time. I remember when it was promised to be out by the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. The combine in HD is a joke- not like having the Olympics or the SB or a great movie, etc.

Are you saying you have DTV, receive the NFL Network(212), and are only able to view it by paying for the HD channel?

Please go back and read the thread from line one.

When it makes it to my area it will become reality. Until then it's a distant dream.

:laugh2: I felt the same way when I first heard about Verizon Fios, initially had Direct TV but the problems with the signal became too much to deal with, then I switched over to Comcast and they were high way robbery! I was happy when Fios came to my neighborhood!

Ditto. My brother-in-law just got it installed. Very nice.

I absolutely love my DTV but make no mistake about it. If FIOS comes to my area tomorrow I will be waving goodbye to current technology and saying hello to the future post haste.

you can say that again.

People are taking this the wrong way.

I actually dont even have my tv on right now, and I am more than happy to just watch it on 212...

just pointing out that it would only allow me to watch it in hd on channel 95 like usual if i payed the 4.95!

again, I dont even have my tv on right now, so I am not watching it at all and will watch it on 212 with no issues, just found it odd or greedy that it was 4.95 on channel 95

I see now. Well, they consider this a special event worthy of a pay-per-view HD subscription. Again, it's just a marketing ploy, and they predict that they can glean additional revenue by offering the package. The market will determine whether or not it is worthwhile. I wouldn't pay one cent for myself. I have a suspicion that they will be disappointed with the results of this move.

yeah I am on my second one also.. This one has caught all the software updates when they run them, so it has been good.

My wife has missed a few episodes of house, bones and the o.c. because of it though.. it sometimes stops recording still or will not play it back.

I believe they have seagate hard drives in them, so that is a negative already.

they release these though full of bugs and then send the upgrades as they make the patches, I am cool with it because it is better than waiting for it to be perfected.

My first one died the day the cowboys played at the giants, at about noon. thank god for the off air antenna!

It's $2 a month more for the tier that carries NFLN here. Same as free to me I watch it so much.

Your cable company thinks more of you than their pockets. Kudos to them.
