To borrow from Bill Simmons
Ladies and gentlemen your 2006 Cincinnattica Bengals

Haha. Simmons called it yesterday.

Now that we have that settled -- what about seven Bengals players getting arrested out of 53? That's 13 percent of the team! Imagine if 13 percent of your office or classroom had been arrested in the past few months? Can they get to 10 before the end of the season? You figure with holiday parties coming, that's good for one DUI. And the holidays bring visitors and family members, which usually brings trouble, so that's good for some sort of incident at a party or a club. So we only need one more wild-card arrest -- something harmless like speeding and attempting to evade an officer, or shoplifting a Christmas present of something -- and then we'll be at 10. Now that would be something. Ten Bengals arrested in one year? We'll be telling our grandkids about that one. Keep your fingers crossed.

Does the name "Marcus Coleman" ring a bell? Those in glass houses ...

And I suppose your bell would go around the neck like so?

No, a sheep would make fun of O'Neal while letting our own reprobates off the hook.

What reprobateS?

In the past 12 months we've had 2 'alcohol-related' offenses.

One guy got immediately cut for a DUI, and the other publically humiliated and handcuffed for taking a leak behind a dumpster.

The Ladies Prohibition League couldn't be prouder than the Dallas Cowboys sobriety program.

You're chasing the right ambulance - you're talking to an MD, counselor.

But you guys have a way of working things out. ;)

Jobber's the MD??

Well what is he drinking that gives him a .10 in one drink? I guess a 40 would do the trick...:)

You don't make fun of a guy when your own guy gets nailed for the same thing. It's not that difficult. And Coleman was a two-time loser with the Boys (first his suspension, then the DUI).

Yeah but....we CUT the guy before his hangover kicked in.

That's the diff, BBgun.

Coleman was an aging spare part; O'Neal is a pro-bowler. He ain't going anywhere. Neither did Irvin.

Well I don't know that Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis cut ANY of their drunkards...and somewhere in that list there had to be "a spare part".

Hey, I don't like to see gloating over other teams' misfortunes of this type....it's a keep-your-fingers-crossed situation and you never know when you're going to open up the sports pages in the morning to see a headline you'd rather not see.

On the other hand, I think JJ and Bill merit some props for the consistency of their efforts the past few years. Yes, guys with 'a past' have been brought in..you can't summarily blackball everyone who's fallen on the wrong side of the law in this league and remain competitive..but they've picked and chosen wisely..and spare parts or not, lowered the boom when they had to.

I think Cowboys fans have a right to feel that particular corner was turned, if not to be smug or gloat.

When all else fails... fall back to Irvin.

Perfect example.

Starting quarterback - cut.

:hammer:

And please BB don't say... well he was still brought in when he had the problem.

There's nothing wrong with giving a guy a second chance, but when you start having repeat offenders, cut your losses. That is, if you don't want to have that stigma of being a team of criminals.

And no matter how you try to put this back on the Cowboys, I've never seen a team with legal issues to the extent of the current Bengals team.

Who? Coleman? Quincy?

I couldn't agree more. Your QB can't be a junkie. Not sure how this relates to first time offender O'Neal.

I wasn't comparing whole teams; I was comparing two offenders who got nailed for pretty much the same thing (O'Neal and Coleman).

But Coleman isn't on the team anymore. Where's the foul?

Apples and oranges. Coleman, down to his last chance, was expendable. Big E crashed his car under the influence and his talented *** wasn't cut.

Dude that stuff is like 10 years ago... We had our problems then, but that **** ain't tolerated now. And that goes for much of the league. Most teams learned the lessons from having players in trouble. The Bengals seem to have missed the memo.

Coleman got plenty of flack from members of this board after his incident. Where were you when people agreed with the decision to let him go? And comparing one marginal player who got released with EIGHT PLAYERS who got arrested in the SAME SEASON is indeed apples and oranges.
