I have to say I was hoping to see more out of the defense. They did make some big stops and held NY to 10 the late 7 in my view was garbage time TD. Barkley clearly is a load and hard to bring down so I will take nothing away from him but would have liked to have seen the defense get some take aways in the game and better pressure on Eli

Pollard is in no way, shape or form replacing Zeke. It really would have been a shame to roll into the season with that dynamic look in the passing and not have Zeke in the backfield. That was the biggest take for me.

I can see why they like him as a 2nd RB, though. His speed and quickness on the one play where he got outside--on a hold--was impressive. But between the tackles, not so much

It takes a rookie running back about eight weeks to adjust to NFL speeds. So he'll get better but its great to have Zeke back.

Pollard had exactly as many carries as Zeke (13) and got less than half the yards. People talking about him making Zeke irrelevant were just huffing their own farts. That's the only substantive negative I can think of on offense.

Basically all the receivers overshot their expectations except Cooper (because I expected him to be good). Witten is outright plodding, but is still fine if you only need 5 cheap yards.

Dak threw all over the field, he was decisive and had good velocity and ball placement. He just looked really smooth in his motions, it was a noticeable difference even from his good games in the past. If Moore and Kita can keep it up the sky's the limit on offense.

I'm less sure about the defense, but giving up 7 after you've gone up 35-10 is hardly a big deal either.

Some of y’all need to quit crapping on Pollard.

The kid did exactly what he was asked to do. Most of his carries where late in the game and designed to just run out the clock. Very vanilla or safe run calls, which is perfectly fine bc the kid handle those duties like a champ. He didn’t fumble the ball away. He kept the ball moving forward even though the Defense was keying in on him.

He also had a couple very nice runs called back by penalties earlier in the game that would have surely made his stat line look better, if not similar to Zeke’s. He did what a rookie backup suppose to do today without fail.

Next time, do less talking around the crockpot and pay more attention to the game.

There was a hell of a lot of good and some bad.

The Good:
- Dak Prescott was spreading it around and dropping dimes. Looked brilliant.
- Receivers just destroyed the Giants CB's, a serious talent discrepancy.
- Playcalling was spot on all game. So many well-designed plays executed perfectly.
- Witten did exactly what I want him to do. People complain about his speed, he still got his TD and proved effective in the RedZone.
- Good to see Jarwin bust open the Giants up the middle, that was a play that was perfect for him and Kellen was right to have Jarwin run it rather than Witten.
- Zeke still managed his 4.1 ypc and TD. Giants have a legit interior defensive line so this was a pretty good outcome IMO
- Lawrence IMO was disruptive most of the d-line player. Hyder, Jackson and Armstrong were decent too
- Shout out to Jeff Heath who played well, mostly in coverage where I think he's better but it was a good start to the 2019 season.

The bad:
- A few too many offensive penalties; Martin holding, Martin tripping, Zeke holding, Amari illegal shift, Su'a Filo holding. The O-line dominated but there is stuff to clean up.
- Interior D-line was allowing too many holes, they've got to do better than that.
- Bad angles by the LB's exacerbated D-line problems. Saquon is special but we created some of our own headaches
- Crawford IMO didn't do a good job setting the edge and protecting against the run. I'll have to rewatch it but it seemed like every big run came through Crawford.

Smith played awful today IMO.

The LBs were atrocious today. I have never seen them chasing down guys from behind like that, except maybe against the Rams in the playoffs. A couple of bad ref calls really aided our defense last night, but fortunately, our offense was scoring consistently.

Other takeaways:

1. Zeke was the second-best RB on the field last night. Let's hope that changes when he gets in "football shape".
2. The pass rush was non-existent.
3. Dak showed he came to play. He he can play like this 10 games a year, then he is the franchise QB.
4. Pay Cooper
5. Cobb might just be the biggest missing piece we needed to be competitive.
6. Old Man Witten still has it--not talking about the cathes or the TD...he absolutely leveled the Giants LBs last night in blocking. Good Stuff.

The Defense seemed kind of "Sleepy" today. Like they weren't sure what they were supposed to do but also they seemed to wake up as the game went on. I am not giving up on them but I also don't trust them either.

Yes they did. It's usually our offense that starts off that way. Lets all keep in mind it's week 1. Give the D some time to put it together. We've all seen defenses get better as the season progresses. Hopefully this is one of those times. By week 3 we should have Quinn and maybe Gregory back. That's when Dak will throw for 754 yards and 9 TDs. I know it's week one, but that was not an NFL team playing Baltimore today.

Seemed like a lot of scoring all around the league. As if all or most defenses started out slow. But our D did not impress me overall as I thought they would play. I guess holding them to 10 points until a garbage time prevent defense gave up another TD. But they gave up chunk plays in both the run and pass.

I will take it though, not complaining, but maybe my expectations were a bit too high.
