Does this guy look like a player or what?

He played at a high level in College and I guess teams thought it wouldn't translate to the pro's but he looks very good rushing the passer.

He's a nice back-up speed rusher.

I was worried after we let go of Ellis we wouldn't have any depth, and while I am still a little worried, Octavien makes me feel a little better.

The nice thing about Octavien is that he seems to play with alot of intensity. He may not ever be an all pro,but you have to like the effort that he gives on the field.

I still don't see why we couldn't train him to play Carp's spot. Now that we have Curtis Johnson and apparently are going to keep him, that makes Octavien the 5th OLB. Why not ditch Carp and have Doc Oc play there? He's fast and athletic enough to do it.

BTW, Catch, I know you're a Nebraska fan and I am too, but I got so disgusted with the Callahan hire that I didn't follow them closely the last few years. Was Oc that good in college? Didn't you say he was just banged up a lot or something?

You need high effort guys who are willing to do the dirty work, Doc Oc definately fits the bill.

What we need is for someone to merge the Doc Oc arms with Octavien in his jersey...that would look cool I bet

I was the same way but I would still watch about 4 games a year at least and yes he was always flying to the football.

Im not nearly the fanatic of that team like I used to be but if you tuned into a game you were sure to see Octavien all over the field.

I would hope not. He is our 3rd best OLB.

Octavien definitely is a guy that I'd like to see moved inside and compete with Carpenter. IMO, his height makes him more of a fit at ILB, although James Harrison is the same height and he does well at OLB.

For me, the bottom line is that Wade Phillips is a guy I trust to get the most out of any LB. If he thinks Octavien should be at OLB, then I trust he should be at that position. However, he just looks like an ILB to me and when I was pimping Octavien during the offseason, I figured he would be at ILB. His aggressiveness and style of play seems to fit inside.

He is playing well outside though.

This isn't true at all, dude can play and has been hustling all camp long. The guy makes plays regardless of the injuries to the other rookies...

Very interesting move, I could really get behind this.

I think he is a guy you can do just about anything with in this defense.

He is a perfect fit in a Wade Phillips D.

I could see him being an effective pass rusher from any of the 4 LB spots.

I'm not CATCH17 and I'm not a Nebraska fan at all... but I did watch a couple of their games and in each one, it seemed like Octavien was all over the place. I mean nearly every play you heard his name called. And in one of those games, the announcers were talking about Octavien like he was a superstar. Almost like Phil Simms during a New England game talking about Teddy Bruschi. They were gushing about him that much... and from what I could see, the guy deserved it. He looked like he was playing at a different level than anyone else on the field. Everyone else looked in slow motion.

Those two games were a big reason that I was listing Octavien as my pet cat this offseason... that and his limited play on special teams last season. He looked like the same guy that couldn't be stopped in those two Neb. games that I watched.

yes it is, how many rookie linebackers are going on IR, and we just picked up Johnson from the colts and he was a injured release, so he's making the team. Octavien wouldn't be on this roster if the rookie draft picks weren't injured, it's that simple...do the numbers????

Octavien looked good against the second teamers, just like some of the Cowboy scrubs. How that translates to the first team efforts remains to be seen.

I really like him. He plays with a lot of eneregy and always around the ball.

Wrong again about the same thing you were wrong about the first time.
