O'Cyrus Torrence - Opinions Please

hes Chaz Green light. I have to pass. We have better options.

I’ve heard about his feet, but for someone to give up 0 career sacks in the SEC I’m sure they are plenty good enough for the NFL.

He may not be able to pull like some others - but I’d count on him doing his job better than most in this draft.
I’ve heard his offense at Florida greatly helped him as a pass protector as they got the ball out quickly

Not in round 1 man. Not me anyway.

Richardson’s feet helped him not give up any sacks last year too.

Well yea hard pass for me in round 1 I’m just saying.

And yes on Rich but I think he’s been starting for 3 years so even before him.

I’m just sick of these interior OLmen we love but they can’t anchor. That’s priority #1 IMO.

I see a great number of people want to draft a DT. From what i see some of the projections say, Siaki Ika, Baylor, will be there in the second. (I understand this Walter Football's mock and no guarantees.)

The Cowboys are looking to upgrade the interior of their defensive line with a big-bodied player.
Siaki Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

But what if, Dallas were to take O'Cyrus Torrence OG Florida in the first. This guy is huge. I really like the idea of two interior linemen, each on the opposite sides of the ball.

Not a sexy pick, but this might solve some pressing issues. He is projected to go to the Eagles at 30.

The Eagles had 12 key free agents this offseason, two of whom were offensive linemen. Isaac Seumalo is gone, so he'll need to be replaced.
O'Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising athleticism.

Walter football had Dorance Armstrong as a 1st round pick up until about 3 weeks before the draft… most draft sites are starting to rate Ika as a 3rd round pick after a mediocre combine and as they get a feel of what actual scouts think. Think he’ll be closer to a 4th before it’s over and likely to be a bust. As for Torrence, this team has primarily run a zone blocking scheme in the rushing attack for years and just hired another coach who specializes in it.. He’s somewhere around 345. Not sure he really fits the scheme at that size. Even if he can get away with thanks to youth for a few years I’m skeptical he’d be able to maintain the mobility to do so more than a few years.

Well, you said 0 sacks in the SEC… which is the one year with Richardson. So I focused on that year.

But yeah, he has some positives for sure… but speaking for myself, there usually will be someone else that I prefer, even in round 2.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think he’s only an ok prospect in a zone blocking offense.

0 sacks for his whole career…like every game he played. Yes he transferred to the SEC but still an incredible stat.

Yes, but you said 0 in the SEC… so that’s what I addressed. It is much less impressive to not allow sacks prior to being in the SEC last year.

But if you want me to acknowledge that he had 0 sacks also at Louisiana-Lafayette, then sure, he didn’t allow any there either.

That does nothing to change how I feel about his feet.

He’s a player that Tenn Titans or Atlanta Falcons need to look at. That is their kind of prospect.

Me? I don’t like his feet.

Jerod Clark DT, Coastal Carolina I would think would be a good candidatefor us in the later rounds. He is 6'4" 330lbs but has over 10 sacks in his career. He is a former TE.

Fair enough.

Don't like Torrence in first two rounds, nor Ika in first three.

Ika's a blob.
Torrence is too hit'n miss. Might maul somebody one down then whiff entirely the next down.

He might not make it to 58, because there's such a lack of guards. But the Leonard Davis comp is something I see - not in a good way. Davis was the same way. He'd have some spectacular plays but too many where he literally blocked nothing but air.
I worry about him against speed/quickness.

Torrence would be a good pick. Allows Tyler to stay at LT, moves Tyron to RT and makes Steele the swing. Lets Ball and Waletzko develop for another year. Makes our left side one of the strongest and meanest in the NFL for the next decade.

There was a mock I put up here a few weeks back that O'Cyrus as our pick. At that time I thought it made sense and was a good one. Since then I've read some more reports and am not sure if that is too high now. Some have him much lower and don't love his footwork. He gets a lot of praise for being a mauler, which I like at G. I'm no guru so not sure what to think about it now but I am not sure this would be there way to go...though I don't mind O-line

On top of Torrance's insane zero-sacks stat, he only gave up one QB hit in 4 years. And he only allowed 8 pressures last season on 355 reps.

He gets knocked for his pass blocking because he looks kind of lumbering, but when has it actually been a problem?

That’s kinda what I was getting at too.

I’m honestly not sure if we run more more of a power man blocking scheme or zone with a lot of pulls.

Either way if we want to pull a G and get him on the move just run right lol.

Torrence 330 at the combine.

Avila 332.

He is bad value in round 1. Not just positional value, but he is just not a first round caliber player. I dont even think he will be the first OG taken
