Jerod Clark DT, Coastal Carolina I would think would be a good candidatefor us in the later rounds. He is 6'4" 330lbs but has over 10 sacks in his career. He is a former TE.
I like him alot. Somewhat of a project, but there is alot of upside there. There is Aikeem Hicks potential there

Torrence 330 at the combine.

Avila 332.
Right, and how much training did he do to get his weight down to 330 for the combine… multiple in season articles listed him in the 343 to 347 range including quotes by himself? Outside of this board, where there’s the delusion we need to take a “left” guard in the first, to be effective in a zone blocking scheme, is Avila considered a viable 1st round pick?

I see a great number of people want to draft a DT. From what i see some of the projections say, Siaki Ika, Baylor, will be there in the second. (I understand this Walter Football's mock and no guarantees.)

The Cowboys are looking to upgrade the interior of their defensive line with a big-bodied player.
Siaki Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

But what if, Dallas were to take O'Cyrus Torrence OG Florida in the first. This guy is huge. I really like the idea of two interior linemen, each on the opposite sides of the ball.

Not a sexy pick, but this might solve some pressing issues. He is projected to go to the Eagles at 30.

The Eagles had 12 key free agents this offseason, two of whom were offensive linemen. Isaac Seumalo is gone, so he'll need to be replaced.
O'Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising athleticism.

O'Cyrus Torrence

Torrence didn't allow a sack in four seasons of college football, the last coming in the SEC. He held his own versus Jalen Carter, too.

If it's between those two I'd prefer Torrence over Ika.

Trade down to the top of the 2nd, draft Torrence and then grab Benton DT1/3 with their original 2nd round pick

Another guy I like would be Keenu Benton out of Wisconsin but he might be gone if we don’t pick him in the 2nd. Don’t think he will make it to us in the 3rd

If the Cowboys end up trading down and out of round 1 I think Siaki Ika would be a name to watch. I have a hard time taking him over some of the OL and TE prospects that should be there at 26 though. Especially with him not showing up at all as a pass rusher in 2022. I know stats are not everything for interior DL guys, but to not registering a single sack all year is a red flag on taking a guy in the 1st round.

Torrence is a name to keep an eye on for that pick at 26 though. I'm leaning more towards them going TE in the 1st, but see Oline as a backup option if their guy isnt there. Torrence isn't what the Cowboys have gone for in recent years. It's been more of the lighter more athletic Oline players, but with a new OC, new play caller, and new Oline coach I'm not sure how much stock we can really put into what they've done in the past.
I don’t see us taking a two down player with a high pick. We have never valued the position and just paid Hankins. Seems almost cheaper to rent vets than use a high draft pick esp when you’re taking them off the field on third down

Maybe. There is certainly legitimacy to what you're saying, but I wouldnt rule it out as early as round 2. Even as a two down player if they like Ika at DT they can still most likely get him on the field as often as if not more than most 2nd round picks.

Last year Sam Williams only got around 250 snaps
Kelvin Joseph had roughly 160 snaps in each of his first two seasons
Trevon Diggs was obviously a fantastic pick
Trysten Hill has a career high around 220 snaps in a season
Connor Williams was a part time player his first two seasons (roughly 600 snaps each year)

Good chance you're right, and we go into the year with Hanksing & Bohana as the depth at 1T. I just don't buy into the idea that they wont take a DT that high because they can't get them snaps. Especially with the taking Hill a few years ago in the 2nd. He was a college career 6 sack guy. Ika was a 5 career sack guy. Just IMO but I think if DQ wants another DT Jerry will make it happen as he did with Marinelli a few years back.

I do too. I also like Schmitt and Mauch. If the tackle from Northwestern drops, I would take him and put him at guard.
I like Mauch a lot. He plays mean, and if he stays in the weight room he'll get even better.

Wasn’t Hill more of a 3 though and were talking about a 1T. We did take Bohanna so if we pick another one I would presume that likely means we’re are planning to move on from him. I don’t think we have enough roster space to go more than 1-2 deep at 1T.

I honestly think you could trade down a bit and still get Torrence, then Siaki in the 2nd

It should be noted Avila provides position flex having spent time at center while at TCU.
Exactly and we know the Cowboys like to have their linemen be able to play multiple positions.

If both Torrence and Avila are there at 26, I think the Cowboys will go with Avila...........great work ethic, can play C or G, played at TCU, and would be a great pick if they are serious about wanting to run the ball more next season.

Any more I want a lard butt at guard; too many dancing guys that get worked by powerful DT's.
