I hope this isn't a re-post. I know DL isn't a need, but if he's the best guy available and we can't move down . . . . you know the rest . . . .

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Penn State DT Jared Odrick is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys.

Hes like the worst case scenario.

We got some depth on the DL but 1 OL, and no safety depth we know of

Yhea, his position isn't ideal when we could more immediately use an OL, S, and ILB . . . . but I'm glad the Cowboys are doing their full due diligence. Who knows how the draft will turn out and who will be available?

It would be interesting to know how high the Cowboys rate Odrick.

In other words, let's say Iupati is gone, the top OTs and Pouncey are gone, top Safeties are gone (E Thomas), Wilson at CB is gone and you're left with D McCourtney, Tate, Price, and Odrick. The Cowboys may view Odrick as a top 22 type pick . . . . Anyway, he's a quality player, imo.

If we were to get a 1st or 2nd for Spears I would love to use our pick at 27 to grab him.

Smart move by Dallas. If he's the highest ranked player on the Cowboys board at the time he would be a great addition.

Theres a ton of teams who need a 5 tech right around us. He cant be our best option at 27 and will probably be gone if theres a tiny trade down

I keep thinking that maybe the Pats draft him. They could definitely use a top 34 DE after trading Seymour.

Thats kind of where I think he is going to land anyways

Ratliff is signed long term. We have Olshansky under contract. Spears is tendered, same with Bowen, and same with Hatcher (IIRC).

Its not inconceivable all 3 could be gone next year since they would be UFA. I expect Dallas to address the DL in the draft with at least 1 pick, and could potentially be more.

Yes he easily could be

Trade up. Golden Tate, Dez Bryant, Iupati, Earl Thomas, Pouncey, Devin Mcccourty, Trent Williams, and maybe Kyle Wilson(Tho he scares me) are all better options imo

There's about 15221542 options better than taking Odrick in the first.

Silly

When will understand it? Dallas is not trading up, Jerry is not taking a WR in the 1st round, Thomas will be gone, Pouncey is not a 1st round pick. The only two that make any sense are Williams and Wilson and even Williams has holes in his argument.

I know, I'm kidding.

But I can't believe a 3-4 DE would be a good option in the first. Just don't see the logic.

You will next year when Spears is not resigned and Hatcher turns out to be exactly what he is and that's a roll player.

You can get them in rounds 3-5.

Hell, they might really like Marcus Dixon.

I have nothing against brining in players and looking at all options. Every player Dallas talks to or works out gives us good information for the draft and future. Seems daily someone post Dallas is interested in this guy or that guy well we can't draft them all but we can gather needed information to make a good selection for the draft
