So if Romo and Dez both go down for the season in week 2 again zeke is going to carry the team to the number one seed? That's laughable. With a healthy Romo and Dez any back will be more than good enough to get the job done. Picking a rb at 4 would be a waste.
If you take the #1 QB and receiver away from any team - that team is going to be screwed. You cannot assume that is going to happen every year. Last year was an aberration. Can McFadden and Morris hold their own with Romo and Dez healthy? I think they would be be fine. I just believe Elliott really tips the scale - I think he is a special player. I would hate to pass him up.
I don't care what position is being referred to - if the scouts and the coaching staff feel a player is "Special" meaning HOF caliber, then take him. If they think Ramsey is going to be the next Ed Reed, then by all means take him. Apparently the Rams and Eagles feel those QBs are HOF caliber because they have paid a hefty price to move up.
Hey,
I am all for trading down with say, SF at 7 and grabbing Elliott there (and steal an extra pick or two along the way). If they trade down any further, it would be highly likely Elliott is gone. I posted my wacky dream draft over on the draft board. There I have Dallas trading down twice - once with Cleveland at 8 and then Tennessee at 15 and picked up a boatload of 2nd and 3rd round picks.
The biggest fear in any draft is when your team passes up a player who turns out to be a superstar (or even better than expected). The best example of that is 1998 when Dallas passed up Randy Moss.
So the question becomes to each of us fans: What do you want? Do you want to stay at #4 and roll the dice that this one player becomes an Ed Reed or an Adrian Peterson (or even a Michael Strahan if they decide to go Bosa)?
OR
Would you like to trade down a couple of times and pick up extra picks in the 2nd & 3rd rounds and build the team with players less likely to be superstars? Finding guys like Brady in the 6th round, Sherman in the 5th round, Leon Lett in the 6th round, or even a Jay Ratliff in the 7th round (who went to a few Pro Bowls) does not happen every draft. It is very rare.
I do not want the Cowboys to use that #4 pick and have him become just a guy. They already have a #6 overall that is just a guy in Claiborne.
If Dallas uses the #4 overall pick - HE BETTER BE A SUPERSTAR!
