I have to say that the 2018 Off-season has been a predictable serving of the same old thing

We are stuck with Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli and they are stuck in the 90's

We are dumbing down the Offense to help our young QB and putting all the marbles into Zeke's dime bag

First the losses: over 70 games started
Dez
Hitchens
OScan
Cooper
AMorris
Mayowa
KSmith

plus BButler, BeneB, Wilber, Durant, WR coach, LB coach

Next the signings: a whole big jug of JAGs
AHurns- WR2 from Jax....... Dez wannabe
DThompson- WR4 .....speed guy
Cam Fleming- Swing OT........average at best
JOlawale- FB with hands
Kony Ealy- 4th team in a year
Joe Thomas- not the LT
MMartin- who?

Retained: expensive
DLawrence
D Irving
BPrice
Looney
LD Ladouceur

Overall Grade- D
The Draft better be excellent after another season of dumpster diving and passing on any stars or starters

We could have had Suh and Mathieu and Richardson and Crabtree and PBrown and Logan and TBoston and Bowman

I agree with this: We are stuck with Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli and they are stuck in the 90's. That's the biggest problem in my book.

As for the players who came and went, I'm not losing sleep over any of them. I'm also not lamenting missing out on guys like Suh, Mathieu, and Crabtree, who may not have even been options for the Cowboys.

I give it a C+ at this point.

I like the direction they are going seemingly to add some better playmakers on offense but that remains to be seen in the draft.

I am higher than most on Fleming and Ealy, I just think they are great value and have super bowl experience while still being relatively young.

I expect a strong draft and possibly a trade for ET to push the grade up quite a bit. Let's not lose sight of how next year's off-season is shaping up. We should be able to make some bigger moves.

Alas we will never know

Jerry likes collecting art more than Lombardis

Only real losses were Dez and Hitchens. Rest were JAGs.

Our FA period is usually JAGs.

Our offseason usually is solely reliant on the draft landing the potential stud players/starters.

I did like we added Fleming, who either may be our starting RT or swing Tackle. Big upgrade over Green there.
Hurns, I liked in Jax, but concerned about his health over a full season. Which makes me expect a WR in day 1/2 for sure now.
Rest of the guys are either depth/ST players to replace the guys lost.

I can't rate it till they actually play. But for ***** and giggles I'll give it a C+. Legit surprised we were able to sway Hurns.

I'll wait until the test is over before I grade it. Could be anywhere from garbage to gold.

I think we've had a solid offseason. I disagree with the Dez move which puts a bit of a damper on things.

A big trade for ET using a premium draft asset would further depress my mood. But, thankfully, that hasn't happened just yet.

Onto the draft.

Financially? I'd give it an A. I think all of their signings were very reasonable and in many cases, much less than what was expected.

In terms of adding talent compared to what they lost? I'd give that a D.

Improved at swing tackle, unless you're plan is to start him at right tackle.
Improved slightly at defensive end with Ealy over Mayowa.

Got worse at linebacker (though smart for not overpaying Hitchens).
Got worse at receiver.
Got worse at guard.

And I see a big "incomplete" at linebacker and possibly free safety as well.

Split the difference and we're looking at a C grade for me.

We’ve gotten worse on both sides of the ball so far. But cleaned up some cap and got rid of some emotional overhead (not just Dez, but Butler and the offensive coaches).

We’re down starters at MIKE, WR, OG, and need a backup S. Too much for the draft in my opinion. How we fill those holes will determine how I feel about the offseason, if and when it happens.

Damn your really upset we dropped your boy 88

We dropped a top 75 WR who happened to have a top 5 WR contract.
Replacment? A similar top 75 WR who is paid accordingly

The only spot I have a problem with is with LB... If we would grab Bowman and plug and play along with either E.Thomas/1tech I would give this offseason an A.
But until then it is a B-

Can you say "Rebuilding" times are here!
Simply fact is that's exactly what Jerry is doing he simply won't admit it.

I agree with the Draft not being enough

There are 3 ways to build a great team- the Draft, Free Agency and Trades

We have all but abandoned 2 of them

Why in the world we don't have a brilliant team of front office personnel to deal with this ..talent evaluation\ the draft\ cap space\ Free agency\ franchise tags and there future consequences\ project future needs and prioritize them. painfully obviously we don't.
I know this is going to draw some fire but....look at the Pats and Bill Belichick. they have year after year seem to let go top players, then just some how find & sign untapped unrecognized talent. they are doing something in front office we are not.
I agree with the O.P of this....D

How many wins does a "rebuilding" team get? 5 at maximum?
I don't think we are rebuilding..... that started 3 years ago when Romo got hurt again

I think they would call it cracking the Dak/Zeke window..... they will open it fully next year and hopes it leads to 5-6 years of Super Bowl contention

Dez is a top20 WR with a top15 contract...... nothing to see here

Giving up on him was a colossal blunder
