Offense first 2 picks

QBs just took a major downgrade recently & now we're expecting to have 5 drafted in the top 10? I could be wrong, but I think this draft probably has the usual 10-15 or so difference making top players that most drafts have. The whacked out season they had just makes it less obvious who they are.

Jerruh just paid insane money to Dak, I would be surprised if he didn’t take offense to help improve his investment.
If Jerry wants to improve his investment, he needs to draft defense not offense. The best Dak is Dak playing with a lead not playing catch up every week.

Of course, but the investment already made him billions. His ego is my worry. He keeps overpaying "his guys" Romo, Zeke, Jaylon etc. If Dak doesn't perform like the 2nd highest paid player in the league, again Jerry will look like an even greater fool then he has for the past 25 years. Defense would be the smart play, but Jerry's MO isn't always the smart play. He may want to give Dak every tool in the shed to get him stats, even if the team doesn't really improve, thus Jerry looks like the "football guy" he so desperately wants to be known as. Sorry, I have become cynical with our owner.....we will see how it all plays out.

So before everyone goes nuts, I know we need defense and I do not see this happening. BUT I THINK regardless if Pitts some how happens to fall to us at 10 we just have to take him, with his upside and talent and what he would do for our offense as a whole plus the possibility of losing Gallup. I think its a no brainer pick.
Now at pick 44 if one of the top rated OT falls to us such as a Cosmi or Leatherwood and they are rated higher than a Def player, do we make that pick?
Do we go back to a team like in Daks first year where we maul teams keep the ball longer and our Def becomes better for it. Just a thought and wanted to hear what you all think if we went that way?
I know I cant wait for the draft either so killing time LOL.
Happy Easter or Holidays to all.

What would pitts do to our offense? We were scoring 37 points a game with dak without him and passing for 370 yards per game. #1 offense in NFL history.

I am usually BPA but the idea of drafting two offensive players with our first two picks has me cracking up. Because it would be soooooooo Jerry.

And I also struggle with taking an OT at 44 to be a swing guy initially when we need quality starting CBS or a FS or a DT.

What will determine our first pick will center on how many QBs will be taken early. It could be as many as 5 in the first 8 picks. Because the QB position has become THE most important for all teams, many teams at the top of the draft now reach for a QB who actually has 2nd or 3rd round talent.

With that in mind, if a guy like Sewell or Pitts falls to the 10th pick, you have to strongly consider taking them. Especially if your scouting dept says they have them rated as a potential lasting star and HOFer. Don’t get me wrong, we need to draft a lot of defensive help. But when it comes to drafting at the top of the talent pool, you can’t be just one sided in your thinking.

Truth is, this team has so many needs I don’t think it’s insane to draft Pitts or Sewell if they slide to us. Yes, defense is a priority but that can’t force you wear blinders when it comes to drafting priorities. If you pass on a guy that’s a future HOFer just because you’re only looking at one side of the ball, you will eventually kill your talent base.

Who is the sure fire HOFer? Are you saying Surtain isn’t really talented?

the exaggerations belittle the point.

Sewell and Pitts are the two I'd pick at 10. Value too high to pass up. None of the defensive players are in their class, IMO. If there were a dominant DE or DT or single high FS freak at 10, I'd be happy to take them, but I'm not taking a LB or CB that high unless it's the second coming of Primetime.

Team Trade Back.

We think we've got our starters at OT. We've got an *extra* starting LG in McGovern. An OT early is a waste this year unless it's another Lamb situation, when too much quality falls into our lap *not* to take.

I really doubt that happens. LT is a premiere position, and this year is reputed not a strong one for LTs. They'll be snapped up.

Both those OT’s could start at LG as Collins did before moving to tackle.

We've got two starting LGs already. Williams had a good year. Just a waste to be setting both Williams and McGovern.

Would you be upset with a Slater - Nixon with first two picks?

I'm warming to the idea of an offensive lineman in the first round. He'd help get this team's identity back. They can get good corners or DT's in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I think Dallas is going with Brown, Lewis, and Diggs in 2021.
That is somewhat scary thought, and thats what we know at this point, this roster and depth chart is unpredictable and will change
significantly before game 1.

I have no idea who’s a future HOFer. And I never said Surtain isn’t talented. All I’m saying is listen to your scouting reports and follow your draft board. If you have a guy rated as the 2nd best player in the draft and project him as a potential All Pro, don’t pass on him and pick the 20th player on your board with the 10th pick just because you need defense.

Conversely, if your team needed offense and you passed on Lawrence Taylor because “this is an offense based draft”, you are killing your team.

So, Sewell is the one player I want most in the first. The minute we paid Dak, that pretty much dictates this investment IMO. You are betting the house on Dak, like it or not so you almost have to insure he is protected. The reality is that he's not going to succeed without a significant amount of help around him.
