So you think Schotty was lying? In Dak Prescotts entire tenure we have been told that a new offense is coming. And every year they roll out the same offense with a new label on it.

I think all these coaches all well meaning until faced with the reality of exactly what Mr. Prescott is capable of doing. So you think Schotty was lying?
Wait, I thought it was all Dak's fault.Ever since that home loss to Fangio and the Denver Broncos a few seasons ago, teams have had success following the same blueprint, shell coverage against this offense:
-Teams started to play two deep safeties, to take away the deep, sideline passing plays.
-Zone coverage across the board and played extra men in coverage rather then sending the blitz.
-They forced the Dallas offense to drive the full length of the field and covert multiple times.
Why has this been so successful?
-They cannot run the football with any consistency and take advantage of the light box. Become one dimensional.
-With so many defenders in coverage, Dak is forced to hold the football longer and make tight, accurate throws.
-The offense cannot play clean, they make too many mental mistakes that are drive killers.
-Must be able to run the football, especially against the light box. This will force teams to get out of that deep shell.
-TE passes up the seem will loosen up the coverage on the sidelines.
-Add in a legitimate screen game and force teams to make tackles in space.
There's your problem.
Right no more double coverage on CeeDee will do wonders for this offense. Pickens will be a difference maker and this is a better coaching staff. Dallas will be much more balanced on offense and will not give up on the run, should be fun ....biggest offset to this is probably lack of another #1 WR. With no other threat, easy to go two on top.
They wont do that this year..lol..
it's pretty remarkable how long and to what lengths that game has haunted this team.Ever since that home loss to Fangio and the Denver Broncos a few seasons ago, teams have had success following the same blueprint, shell coverage against this offense:

It’s amazing how year after year we wonder why is the offense so predictable? Why so many plays out of the shot gun? Why so many curls and comebacks routes? Etc etc we keep on wondering.it's pretty remarkable how long and to what lengths that game has haunted this team.
interesting comparison. makes sense. Most NFL offenses struggle against shell coverage, that's why the defenses are moving to it.
Running the ball actually plays into the defense's hands. Running produces less expected points and kills more game clock vs throwing deep passes. Defenses would much rather give up ten straight 5-yard runs (and gamble on getting a stuff or a holding penalty somewhere in there, and let you burn up the whole quarter), than give up a 50 yard bomb.
It's like how the NBA switched to shooting threes... they're more high variance than driving an iso straight down the lane, but over the long term, they're a more productive shot.
Except Dak has had his best years after his rookie year lol.Dak was at his best when they ran more RPO looks in his rookie year with Zeke. One read routes allowed him to be decisive. No Zeke. And now Dak has two bad wheels. Has to see the whole field which slows his decisions or makes more bad ones. RPO is gone and so has been Dak.
Ask Pat Mahomes he sure as hell struggled against it in the Super Bowl….Cover-2 has been around forever. We played that in high school 100 years ago. So it's not like it baffles all QBs.
Anyway, I think we all agree with need to run it better so the game isn't all on Dak's shoulders. He's not that guy.
Great points.Fans do not have to be ignorant of all things football.
They just don't.
The Cowboys don't struggle with base cover 2.
They do struggle when their OL can't block 3-4 rushers and when the 2 deep rolls to double CeeDee.
Dallas simply didn't have other weapons on offense. No RB, no 2nd WR of note. TE was injured.
bbbbut Dak.... Stop sounding like a complete clown. Dak has missed plenty of games which has meant we have seen plenty of OTHER QBS in this offense the last 3 years.
And the offense was significantly worse each time.
Dak may not be the answer but he sure as heck was also not the problem. 1 day you goofies will wipe the drool of your mouths and figure that out.
Well when Dak misses time does the offense look better? Did it look better with Dalton, Rush or Lance? It’s amazing how year after year we wonder why is the offense so predictable? Why so many plays out of the shot gun? Why so many curls and comebacks routes? Etc etc we keep on wondering.
Exactly. Dak’s issue aren’t mental. He knows where the ball should go, but he lacks the arm talent. That’s why he went in the fourth round. That’s why he struggles with basic stuff. There's your problem.
He's changed over the last ten years. When he started off, his arm talent was fine, pretty much NFL starter average. And he damn near had the build and mobility of a linebacker. But he'd do dumb stuff like spin out of pressure to his left, and he was good for 2 or 3 wild misses vertically a week.Exactly. Dak’s issue aren’t mental. He knows where the ball should go, but he lacks the arm talent. That’s why he went in the fourth round. That’s why he struggles with basic stuff.
It’s not because he’s dumb or secretly hated by his teammates. It’s talent.
He didn’t go in the 4th because of arm talent lol….it was his foot work and mechanics being inconsistent and the dui. You guys and your revisionist history lol.Exactly. Dak’s issue aren’t mental. To an extent his fault also, he gets baited and throws ints, as well as struggle tomake good reads when they show something in pre snap and align (zone) differently post snap ( but even elite qBs cant beat that consistently ) He sometimes lose patience and tries beyond his capabilities and gets picked or didnt have a WR who could take advantage of double coverage against CD.Wait, I thought it was all Dak's fault.
