Who wins a race .....M. Irvin & Harpers and their 3 Superbowls vrs. Dez & Austin?

We lack protection that holds up against elite rush teams, otherwise, our offense is very good.

Timed speed for Austin and Dez was 4.4 and 4.5 respectively. They are fast, but they aren't in the class with some of the real burners out there. True burners change a lot of coverages and they do open up other things underneath for sure. Is it a glaring need IMO, no. Is it something that if the right guy fell into our laps would we be interested heck yes.

In basketball there's a saying you can't coach height. You either have it or you don't. Speed is the same thing in Football. Look at D. Jackson and Wallace for Pittsburgh. They change defenses with their speed without a doubt, because they can flat out outrun just about any DB out there.

Anybody else think our offense just lacks speed I mean sure we have big physical receivers but I dont see them stretching the field with there speed

I agree 100%. We need that speedy slot receiver. Give me a Titus Young in the 2nd or 3rd round. He would be perfect in our offense.

The offensive line was so bad but they manage to be in the top 10 again?

Can’t have it both ways, Yes,,, O-Line had their issue, but getting the ball down field with the lack of arm strength didn’t help either, Hell Kitna got the ball down field better than Romo....

Everybody couldn’t wait to get Flo out of town, but look where he is now….. In the Super Bowl with the Steelers…. Maybe it not all on the O-line…..

Sorry but miles and dez while they are great receivers they aren't really fast I'm talking bout some one who just flat out burns dbs

Go back a year to the Raiders game. Did you see Miles burn Namdi over the middle? Tampa game, Roy down the seam for 66. Flat out smoke all of their coverage. No need to even explain Dez, he has proven plenty already. UP and coming, KO is a speed demon. If he gets his game on, he has the speed to burn any team deep.

I think the sport youre looking for is track.

Miles is plenty fast. Remember his kick return against seattle? Or, how about against the cheifs in 2009 when he was breaking tackles and than just running away.

Did Dez look slow when he took that punt against the giants back for 80+ yards?

Dez and Miles have plenty of speed.... the question should be do ROMO have enough arm strength to get it down field to them without a hang time of a punter

The only place Romo seems to have trouble throwing is deep along the sidelines. He puts it out of bounds too much. He can hit the deep posts or 30 yard slant if it comes down to it...

Yeah, when I think of Dez, Felix and Miles, I think we lack speed.

YR

The entire right side of the OL lacks speed and agility, and that's the hinderence on offense.

How can they stretch the field when after the snap the QB is getting hit before he has a chance to let the recievers get into their routes?

The whole thing wrong with this team is the oline...fix that, and things will change drastically!

:hammer:

Your right, we should do everything possible to add speed guys like Randall Williams, Ed Hervey and Alexander Wright. We'll scare the crap out of teams with that type of speed.

This obsession with speed is moronic. Raiders love speed- what has that ever done for them?

Sure if a guy has the ability to run routs, catch the ball, etc speed is great to have. How many real burners can do that?

...says the guy with a signature saying Mike Holmgren will be our new coach.

So did the 90s Cowboys that won three Superbowls. :)

We see what lots of speed and quick strikes did for the Eagles Superbowl trophy cabinet.

No. I really don't think it's an issue at all. In fact, I think the biggest problem with this team is we've spent too many resources on skill players and too little on the lines.
Best answer given thus far.

maybe im misreading what the OP was trying to say, but i didnt read it like speed is the only thing this offense needs and were elite. Of cousre our OL is a massive need that needs to get addressed first. Our skill guy's are elite already . But for years most people on this board including myself we have been chomping for a speedy slot guy 2 guy's that come to mind that alot of us really wanted during past drafts where mike wallace and mike thomas both were 3rd and 4th round picks not saying we need to use a 1 on a speeedy slot guy here but we could use a guy like this but then again what team couldnt ? lol
