yeah, defensively. offense did their job they just didn’t look good

How many times did our offense "look good" in the past and we still loss? Our offense kept our defense somewhat rested. They looked good enough to me!!

Time to destroy this idiotic myth that the offense "struggled" Sunday night.

We know the defense was spectacular and the FG block TD was enormous.

Now let's talk offense.

Dallas scored 27 points in 7 drives (3.9 points per drive) with Dak at QB.

On what planet is that "bad" or "sputtering" like I've been reading here??????

3.9 points per drive is "bad"????

It would literally be #1 in the NFL BY A MILE if we kept up that pace for a season.

NFL average for all teams in Week 1 was 1.65 points per drive, and we more than doubled that.

Oh, and we did it in pouring rain, on the road.

Excellent start to the season from ALL 3 phases.
Nice stats, thanks for sharing

I'm as excited about this offense as I am the defense. We ran DV on the outside, and that was predictable. But we'll see more from Deuce next game, I'm betting.

Why do some always need to move the goalpost when Dak is involved.

so he had short fields….big freaking deal. It’s not his fault he’s so efficient and a leader
Well one could argue the goal posts are being moved when people simply brag about team points scored and give the qb all the credit. That's a form of goal post moving. There have been several posts lately where people are boling everything down to team points scored as a way to prep DP's gold jacket. People who point out the short fields are simply injecting some real objectivism into it.

To end up higher than 20th in the league in offense? To have some semi-impressive stats on the skill positions and not the pawltry numbers everyone had. To have multiple long scoring drives? Top have a game where the tight ends looked like they belonged in the NFL. Shall I continue or am I not making sense to you?

did you miss the part where I said "results are all that matters"? they won, the end. And I hope the offense improves moving forward to maximize their chances of winning

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/

Pro football reference has an advanced stat for offense that takes into account situation. Dallas is currently sitting 7th for expected points contribution from the offense.

Its not fantastic. There were some drops. I thought Dak was off on some throws.

That said, in game 1, in the pouring rain, with a new offense . . . not too shabby.

It was pouring rain. Anyone that says we sputtered is as dumb as those that forgot the niners have the #1 D in the nfl.

We proved we could pound the rock when needed without the horrid zeke. We were also good on 3rd down.

Agree with OP. Just as a reminder, the team scored 3 last year in the opener in good weather against a mediocre TB squad.

For sitting the entire preseason and installing a new offense, things looked just fine.
TEs dropped at least one TD

i wouldnt say fantastic, but they did exactly what they needed to do, get some time consuming drives goin, run the ball effectively, and keep the ball safe. They did exactly that and with this defense thats all they need to do, anything more is a bonus.
Nailed it man.
For a road game in bad weather they were fine.
The key is they did not turn the ball over and they were efficient.
Ran the ball effectively against a really good D line.
Very few 3 and outs gave the defense time to rest on the sidelines, which kept the D fresh and attacking.

I know it's 1 game, and I'm not a KMoore hater, but this MM offense is better suited to winning long term in the league.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see our offensive production drop this season vs. last (yards and points per game), but for us to be a better team overall. Limit the turnovers, run the ball when you need to, and get that stellar D rest and I think that is a recipe for success.

Some of y'all just like to argue. Cowboys win 40-0. Offense scored 27 of those points. But let's fight over stats and adjectives. Stats and adjectives.

Nope, I’m spreading and spewing nothing but hot love in any and all Dakota threads.
13 of 24 comps
143 yds passing
6 yds rushing
0 fumbles lost
0 INTs
0 TDs
As long as Dak continues on this path this team has a legitimate shot.

Agree. The completion percentage is the one that really gives me the most hope.

In the midst of a typhoon it is damn good
