Offensive Coordinator move I would like to make

I'd like someone with an offensive-minded approach that has ZERO ties to the organization currently...I don't want guys from the 90's (although Norv is better for me than no OC at all), I don't want another year of Callahan calling the plays, I don't want garrett calling the plays (although I would take him over Callahan)...I want new blood in there...some mention Chud (for example) and he is still young with fresh ideas, but I have said in other threads that I think getting a college guy who is offensive-minded to be OC and let him implement his scheme...Garrett wouldn't feel threatened by that (I wouldn't think) and we would get fresh ideas in on offense....then, you get someone with NFL experience to be the DC, assuming Kiffin/Marinelli are not here....someone like Frazier who could focus on that side of the ball alone....

...I can still see Kiffin/Marinelli getting one more year....they didn't have the horses to run the race this past season (injuries, lack of talent behind the starters)...so, if the team can not be bit as often by injuries, I think the defense can be significantly better...especially if they focus on the DL in the draft and FA (if we are involved in FA)

Art Briles

Can you give me some insight on Briles? I have read about him on the site and was intrigued, but after watching Baylor play at the Fiesta Bowl and I am pretty concerned about what looks like a severe lack of discipline on the field and penalties galore.

I do not want to change the terminology for play calling nor make huge changes in the offense. We need to stay a timing offense in general but with more of the media perception WCO and the spread. I don't think you can run a true pistol with Romo but you can run a few plays out of that and I'd like to see Wilcox run it on occasion. And we need to run the ball more even some occasionally with the box stacked. There are things to do with Dez in motion that would help him and we should look at improving the H and F back. We need to throw the ball a tad more down hill and be less predictable. Add some trick plays in there too and be surprisingly daring at times.

Did you mean Harris? Personally, I would love to get the ball in Harris' hands more often on offense. I guess Wilcox did play on offense before he converted to safety later in college so you may have meant Wilcox now that I think about it.

I did. He's shiftier and faster. But Harris has 'it'. I'd like to know why he isn't used more. I do suspect that if Miles is gone Harris will get a shot; assuming we don't draft or acquire a better player.

Me too.

Harris is a playmaker. I want to see him get the ball more, because he knows how to play football.

I feel the same way. Harris has been a clutch, playmaker for this team for a couple of years now. Good things tend to happen when he has the ball in his hands. I can't help but to think that a more creative offensive mind would figure out ways to take advantage of his skills. We see smoke routes to T-Will (our least shifty WR) and 2 yard outs to Witten on 3rd and long while Harris is on the bench. Screens and quick hitting passes over the middle to Harris have quite a bit of big play potential. Harris is physical with great vision, as we've seen during his returns. He has been a pretty reliable WR when we've gone to him (see late 2012 when he caught some huge, clutch passes). I know that there are only so many balls to go around, but I believe that we underutilize Harris' talents on offense.
