I am becoming increasingly concerned about Payton leaving. If he leaves for Green Bay what are we going to do? I know he is not well liked around here, but I think he is a superior x-o coach, particularly in the passing game. He has gotten more out of Bledsoe, Key, and Glenn than what their recent pasts would suggest was possible. If we promote from within, it has to be Sparano - I'm not thrilled with that. If we go outside we have a scheme change (which means more excuses about why we failed) or someone will have to implement Payton's scheme. Not alot of good choices. I think we have to give Payton the Greg Williams' treatment and pay him HC money. I don't think he deserves it but we are over a barrel. We need Sean Payton, badly.

problem is any OC we might have will be controlled by BILL Percells..no way Bill will give the play calling freelly to anyone ..just watch most of the cowboys games to see him one way or the other looking or yelling at payton..it is hard to be urself with someone watching over ur shoulder

Sprano gets promoted to OC I'll cry. Dude did NOTHING with Oline and only got some love for Witten's play in 2004? Geez - give him the keys.

Henning - Carolina is name to watch!

Why would any 'name' guy want to come work for BP? I don't think he's real easy on coordinators. They don't get a lot of credit and they are totally muzzled with the media. Plus, there will be real uncertainty as to how long he'll stay.

I guess the real attraction might be that if you do well, you'll get a shot at HC when BP leaves.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Unless his contract is up, which I do not think is the case, he is not leaving.

I doubt that we loose either Zimmer or Peyton.
Just dont see any other team desperate enough to hire either as a Head Coach considering their production, and a lateral move, while not out of the question, isnt likely.

Please, please,,, someone take Zimmer off our hands.

They are the best of friends.

He'd get asst head coach title and paid very well.

Why? Number 10 in the NFL in defense. Never coach the 3-4 and you want to get rid of him?

He is currently listed on the official Panthers site as only Offensive Coordinator. If that is correct he is essentially available because we could make him the asst head coach.

He talks to BP every week during the season.

BP would trust him with the offense.

When he got to Carolina they had the worst offense in the league.

I could see a strong experienced 3-4 DC. The 3-4 is not Zimmers strong suit.... But the BEST thing for this team is to get some stability. Yes we need OL, FS. ILB, help. How many years has this team been changing,

Stability Parcels, Stability thru Payton and Bledsoe. Stability with JJ, Barber, Witten, this offensive needs to grow toegther and mold as a TEAM, you can't do that by changing coaches, players and schemes every year. Bringing in the OL help and pay Payton(if thats what it takes), he might not be the best right now, But Big Bill needs to assist in mentoring....Play today by preparing for the future.......

Its just my personel opinion of Zimm. Look this defense is talent laden and capable of more than #10. Im just saying that with the personel on this defense, Zimmer could have been alot more aggressive in his play calling, and it just seems that the blitz schemes that he installs are unimaginative and poorly executed. Now who knows,, this might be the handcuff that any defensive coordinator on this team would have to operate under. Maybe BP puts a leash on his boys,,,, we dont know. But even since the Campo days, Zimmers defensive style, has always seemed to be restricting to the personnel rather than benefitting... IMO.

I think we need a D-Coordinator that can mix in complex blitz packages and stunts that take advantage of Roy, Ware and our athletic D-Line. If it is Capers I would be all for it. In the case of the O, Henning will be even more conservative than Payton. I am in NC this week on business, and all anyone is talking about are how much better the Panthers would be without Henning.
