if garrett and linehan are finally fired and richard becomes hc, who is out there that can be hired mid-season for offensive coordinator?

lets assume we are not out of it so there is still a point to get someone better than a caretaker oc.

If a change is made in season were out of the hunt anyway, no point in hiring anyone. Just wait until the offseason and see whats available.

Doesn't matter. Find a quality HC, probably from a playoff team, as soon as you can talk to him.

Then try a novel approach.... Let him pick his own coordinators and staff.

It would be usually someone who is promoted from within. Frequently it is the QB coach.

Lol could you imagine Kellen Moore.

My guess is it would be Sanjay Lal

Ok you've convinced me
Let's keep Garrett and Linehan

A lot of offenses struggled week 1... I'm willing to wait this out for a couple of games.

It would likely be Lal but honestly, it would be Garrett running the O.

But points about how tons of offenses looked turrible this week are fair. Look at how offensive genius Jon Gruden opened the year. Look at how the Lions, top 10 in many offensive categories last year looked.

I don't know the rules but can you hire from another teams coaching staff with a promoted titled mid-season? I'm sure they can pull from the college ranks but who would leave their program mid-season.

Good OC's who want to work are already working, and any that are already working in the NFL cannot be approached by another NFL team.

No way JJ fires them while we are still in the hunt. He may do it right after the last game of the season. I think JG and Linehan have things up there sleeves. And JG WILL throw Linehan under the bus to keep his job. Linehan should have been gone this last year. A new OC with a new playbook could have come in with the new receivers and stood a chance. Linehan and JG have JJ convinced that they can make it work and make a run at it this year. With a improved Defense we could. But not if our Offense plays like they did Sunday.
