Offensive Formation, 2 TE Set

I think most fans would love it. There are some who would groan because they just want to see the hitting, not the beauty of the game.

I would love it if you made this a regular feature, maybe diagnose key plays during the regular season, to help us non-football players gain a better appreciation of the strategy that's involved.

I really enjoy reading these breakdowns of yours. Obviously, since it prompted me to come out of lurker mode for a change.

A couple of other people have asked me. I just don't want it to get boring for folks.

Just put a disclosure statement: The following information contains in depth analysis that some may find boring, causing drowsiness and fatigue. Do not read if you plan on operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment. A small portion of the population may experience ringing in the ears due to blood rushing from the brain to the crotch, however many of these people experienced the same sensation taking a placebo or watching 4th and Long.

Ooh, good advice.

So when do you take over as offensive coordinator? ;)
Believe it or not, at one time that was my dream. I got to coach Offense in High School and one season of college. I was asked to come back to High School coaching this year, but for a school in Mesa, Arizona and for chicken feed pay.

I have also been asked to referee High School this year and I may do it. Think of the possibilities. I can call the Kicker for being off sides. No matter where that ball sails it is no good. If a Kicker even touches someone else unnecessary roughness.

There's a coach at one of the local High Schools that seeing him freak if I was in zebra colors would be worth it. He and I kind of clash.

All joking aside, I would not be a crooked ref. I may do it.

One of the beauties of getting a good blocking TE out wide is that you can throw a screen pass his way and he can just maul the defensive back and get big yardage.

YAKUZA

What about the 2 TE, single back set

WR

TE
OT
OG
C QB RB
OG
OT
TE

WR

The Bills used to run this type of formation during their SB years. On some of their plays, the TEs would run basically a slant from the LOS, crossing one another, making like an X-pattern if they had paint on their feet. One of the TEs was seemingly always open, as the other would use himself and his defender to pick the other TEs defender. Metzlaars made a lot of catches using this type of play.

I'll play with it tonight and brainstorm some ideas. What back do you want? It's your play, you get to choose.

FYI, about 2/3 to 3/4 of the offensive plays today were 2 TE sets.

I was just reading that. Bennett can do what Fasano wasn't able to.

No one watches chess on TV.

Or at least they don't know they are watching it, lol.

Play H-back?
Actually, he lines up more as a WR than an H-back. It's remarkable how much he's lined up out wide.

WR Roy
TE Bennett
RB Choice
TE Witten
WR Austin

Could u draw up the following plays...

Choice off tackle
Choice sweep
Choice motions out to the flat at the start of the play
Play action, Choice to flat
Play action, Choice to middle
Play action, Choice pass protects

Now that's what I want to hear!

I'm tellin you guys, this is a key for us this year.

Our top 3 WRs are good. But that's it. They're not special.

Our 2 WRs and 2 TEs and 1 RB formation puts the maximum stress on a defense.
