Offensive Line needs to improve

To be honest, I look at a whole lot of Tony Romo high passes and I ask why is he throwing like that?, but when I go to look back at recent Cowboys games I see that the Offensive line let someone in to distract him to throw an erratic pass.

Im glad we won, I appreciate the win, but I also believe going into the playoffs we need to play closer to mistake free football and with the penelties (i.e. Holding, False Start, etc.), I believe that could hurt us in the long run.

I believe Hudson Houck has alot to work on with his offensive line this week. We need Romo to be healthy if we want to really make a run in december.

This could have been posted every week this season.

We all knew this line was OK in pass protection, Tony made this line look better in the stat line when in reality they are a decent line. Now that Tony is trying to limit his "gunslinger" ways he is staying in the pocket and avoiding those impulsive feast or famin throws.

In order to win in December the offensive line must step up and play better, Romo needs time to connect with WRs down the field...

Good Point. But it's a reason I posted it now, why?, because Cowboys are about to go on a stretch against some tougher defenses than Oakland Raiders defense.

This stretch includes Giants who I must say is known for pass-rushing the quarterback, Chargers who is on a hot streak and the defense isn't letting up, Saints who's defense got numerous of playmakers that can get to the Quarterback and causes turnovers, Commanders who we just had a tough time facing on the offensive side of the ball, and Eagles who gave us trouble the first game we played them in Philly.

I know you might ask, what is the point?

The point is, all of these teams got one thing in common, ?, they have speed rushers that offensive lineman like Flozell Adams have trouble with and my overall point is going into the stretch of December with playoff implications on the line our offensive linemen needs to be on point.

Hudson Houck needs to get Flozell prepared for the speed rushers and get him to look at alot of video. I believe Flozell needs to work on his footwork in this stretch, it would benefit him to the upmost. But overall I believe that the offensive line needs to get prepared for who they are about to face in this stretch.

The Cowboys need the offensive line to make plays to people like the receivers (i.e. Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, Roy Williams, and other players).

we all knew this

this why this year we draft at least 2 or 3 O linemen

...the O-line will decide how far we go in the season and the playoffs if we are fortunate enough to make it.

They are in my mind right now the key to the season.

For sure. Romo is making them look better than what they are.

...agree that the Raiders d-line is second tier in the league. They made our line look better than what they really were.

Next week will be a real test of how good the line is.

I have been pleased with the way Doug Free has been playing the last two weeks. I think he has played his way into the starting lineup next year, which is huge because we get a little younger.

I wouldn't say that much, Marc Columbo has been solid and has been holding up, so I wouldn't go as far as saying he's officially the starter of that position. But I do agree with you that he has been playing pretty well.

I believe that the Cowboys did the right thing by putting him there instead of moving Leonard Davis to the Right Tackle position where he would've been looking like Flozell Adams (False Start, Holding, Speed Rushers.).

I believe that Flozell Adams could be more successful at a guard position where he can get his hands on a guy, cause we all know he's strong, I don't believe that Left Tackle is his best position, I believe that Left Guard on the inside facing the defensive tackle instead of a fast speed rusher coming around the edge that he can't get his hands on fast enough before the guy hits Romo.

I could see Free starting next year in this scenario:

If the Cowboys move Flozell inside to Left Guard, Marc Columbo to his Right Tackle position, and Doug Free to Left Tackle, I believe this could work.

There's room for the whole team to improve.

It is. But, I believe this position is 1st on a list to improve. You have to ask yourself, how is Romo going to deliver passes to the wide receivers?, How is Cowboys going to march down field without getting false starts and holding penelties as setbacks?, How many games do you think that the Cowboys defense can manage to keep the other team point total below 7 or more?, And that leads me to the most important question, how will the Cowboys score?

This offensive line is vital to the Cowboys success in december going into January.

I agree.... this oline with Bledsoe and there would be 4x the amount of sacks... This oline needs to start preforming atleast twice as good as they are now...I have been very disappointed in them this year...as a matter of fact last year also.

I was too. It's too many missed opportunities because of the offensive line.

Tony Romo throwing high passes, Tony Romo getting sack, Cowboys can't run the ball because of the 2 Main Ps.

High passes comes from "PRESSURE" cause for example, Tony Romo throw high passes to Miles Austin or anyother wide receiver for that matter which could have been a touchdowns.

Tony Romo getting sack comes from "PRESSURE" for example, Witten is open in the endzone but Tony Romo get sacked.

Cowboys can't run the ball because "PENELTIES" is setting this team back from calling running plays cause for example, 1st and 10, False Start, ok 1st and 20 the Cowboys passes it for 50 yards down field to Miles Austin, Holding, 1st and 30, now no other choice but to pass it.

Cowboys offensive line has to get it together.

Flozell is at the end of his career. He is what he is and we are going to have to live (or die) with it.

We as fans currently in the present can't think about whether Flozell Adams career is over or not. It's about what the Cowboys can do to improve with him on the team for we can be able to win in December and January.

If we ran the ball 10-15% more a lot of that pressure on Romo would dissipate..

That may be friend but that also might be 10 to 15% of 1 yard gains.

Not every single run fails in fact our backs average 4-10 yards per carry...
