Offensive Line needs to improve

a few plays yesterday, i thought a screen play was called because there was an all jail break on tony. turns it out it wasnt a scree play, just our oline getting its butt kicked. :bang2:

If we ran the ball 10-15% more a lot of that pressure on Romo would dissipate..

Good Point. I must say the run means alot with a offensive line like this, but how can you run if the team is being called for penelties?

To be honest, I look at a whole lot of Tony Romo high passes and I ask why is he throwing like that?, but when I go to look back at recent Cowboys games I see that the Offensive line let someone in to distract him to throw an erratic pass.

Im glad we won, I appreciate the win, but I also believe going into the playoffs we need to play closer to mistake free football and with the penelties (i.e. Holding, False Start, etc.), I believe that could hurt us in the long run.

I believe Hudson Houck has alot to work on with his offensive line this week. We need Romo to be healthy if we want to really make a run in december.

Babe Laufenberg former QB for the cowboys in the 90s said that from what he saw of romo in games 2 games before the raiders game that romo's footwork was bad in setting up to throw etc. That romo needed to correct that to get the throws down from being so high.

And that's why we have this conversation about Offensive Lineman.

Okay, let take account that Tony Romo is 6-2, most of the guys if not all that's in front of him is taller, okay, so that means if he getting rushed by someone off of either offensive lineman side (left, middle, right) and Romo is trying to throw the ball and someone in his face, I imagine that Romo is going to try to get a quick release off the ball or just take the sack.

I believe overall that "PRESSURE" causes the high passes.

I agree with the OP. This O-line is underachieving given their size and experience. They constantly put us in long yardage situations with their penalties and too many rushers get through too fast, and too many blitzers come through untouched.

They are okay IMO on running plays but they they aren't the road graders I would expect, given their size. Barber and our other RB's should never get stalled for minus, no-gain or 1 yard runs with that much weight in front of them.

believe Flozell needs to work on his footwork in this stretch, it would benefit him to the upmost.

I dont think we need to draft 3, maybe 2. I want too see what Brewster has first.

Good point. I believe that with the help of Hudson Houck and more of a running game plan by Garrett, I believe the blitz will fade back a little, and also I believe that Cowboys need to max protect.

I could not agree more...

They need to step it up not just a notch but two maybe even three... if on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being a total disaster and 10 the greatest ever I think these guys are playing at a 3 - 5 when I think they could/should be a 7 or even 8.

Our success or failures this December will most certainly be determined by the play of the offensive line. Sometimes I would love to see how Brady, Manning, Brees or Roethlisberer would fare behind our line. Tony makes them look much better than they are thats for sure.

Just need to handle the blitz better.

And that may be on the RBs and WRs and Garrett.

Garrett needs to know teams are bringing pressure, have a safety outlet, the RBs have to pick up the blitz properly, and the WRs have to get open quicker.

Not all on the OL. There is only so much you can expect the OL to do while being blitzed.

Not saying to run on 3rd and long here which is what I'm assuming your implying but running on 1st down and manageable 2nd downs a little more could be a start. One of the reasons why we have so many false starts is because our big slow O-line gets edgy on pass protection, especially when dealing with speed rushers. We see it all the time...

I actually thought the OLine was great against GB for the most part...

It's ironic because Tony is a better QB when he's scrambling and actually having to make plays. When the OLine just allows him to sit there he seems to be less effective.
