Offensive Line Too Old?

Yes they are too old. As soon as an OL nears 30 (29 years and 6 months to be exact) they should be cut.
Grasp at straws much ?
Can you imagine getting rid of Larry Allen in 2001-2002 ?

Only one player is over 30 and that is the Hotel. Try and do some research before you look so stupid.
Hello, on top of that a lot of O-lineman hit their peak in the 30's.

"Cute" msg by fan62, but the fact is that 30 is old for a RB, not an OL! Realistically, this group shuould have another 3-4 seasons of starter-quality play left in them and I think it was more of NYG's scheme more than them "wearing" down in the fourth Q. They became alot more aggressive after halftime and we started passing the ball alot more...and that turned into a deadly combination! Hopefully if H. Houck re-joins the staff he'll be able to fine tune some of the deficiencies and keep this unit stable.

Several of you have come back and said that OL are just hitting their peak at 30 or better. If that's the case than I take the best starting OL are 30 or older? So most teams should be full of 30 and older, starting OL? Just guessing, but the average age of starting linemen would be 32-35? Anyone know what it is? I looked around and couldn't find the stats. Where is Dallas compared to other teams? Our average is right around 30, I would say, right?

FYI-Flo is the only OL player 30 or over.

This is one STOOPID thread!:bang2:

My point, after watching the game again, our two tackles had their assignments flying by them in the 4th quarter, even on plays where there were no blitzes. I am asking why? The pressure was awesome on Romo, and I would guess they blitzed 10-15% of the time in 4th quarter. Why could these guys not get the job done, even when there was no blitz? The offensive lines penalties killed us too.

Maybe you should wonder why in the second half the giants were suddenly blitzing and mixing things up? Because they got nothing the first half. What happened to our O line had NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE? CAPICE?

I'm not sure about too old. But they are definitely too dumb and have no heart.

Again - why? even when there was no blitz, could our tackles not handle their duties?

By the way, Dallas starting OL is the sixth oldest in the NFL. Only KC, Washington, Chicago, Oakland, and Atlanta are older. Now with Larry Allen's retirement we will own the 28th oldest line in the NFL.

NE LINE: 28, 25, 29, 31, 28
BOYS 32, 29, 29, 29, 29
Colts 24, 26, 32, 23, 23 THEY are young
Chargers24, 26, 26, 32, 26
Browns 23, 27, 30, 28, 27
Pack 31, 25, 26, 25, 30
Vikings 28, 30, 31, 27, 24

Those are most of the best lines in the NFL this year. Our line is only a couple of years older then most of them- and our interior is signed for the forseeable future. Colombo probably will be resigned. And we have 2 young OTs if we let the Hotel go.
Its not just age- its how long untill they have to be resigned. The 27 or 28 years olds are usually at or about to go into their second contracts- and they will be VERY expensive to retain.

I don't know how the Giants did it but it seems every time I looked up Big & Gurode were stacked up on each other like bowling pins, on the floor....:
