Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton

I didn’t like the pick either. However, I did focus in on him when he was on the field (even made more of it in the game thread). That said, I didn’t see anything alarmingly bad. He did have a bad pass rush snap where he didn’t get enough depth and gave up the edge, but other than that, I don’t recall anything that spells doom for him.

He needs at least a full offseason in the weight room. He has the requisite athleticism, but he is noticeably not stout in the power game.
Thanks for this

Sounds like the reports out of camp we been hearing. Good chance there will be an OT on the roster in Sept that is on another teams roster now. Depth thin to none.
Is that OT who was a cap casualty from the Lions still available? Was praying these idiots would sign him. If you’re pushing your chips to the middle of the table, dont skimp on a critical position like OT

No, not to let it make you miserable which leads to negativity which leads to one bitter person all the time.
Miserable? Try reading for content. I made an observation and asked others if they saw the same. That's all. It is an opinion forum. To support your narrative you use terms like "miserable". That's actually a pretty descriptive term. Maybe you don't know the meaning or just being hyperbolic?

His feet were terrible. Big time 2 handed lunger. He also lunged high. No one can recover from that. He was terrible. How the heck did he play in the big 10.

Anyone watch him last night? He was terrible. 3rd stringers were working him over. Discouraged about that debut. They need OTs to step up.

Any thoughts?
Drew Shelton absolutely sucks. Waste of a mid-round draft pick. There were better linemen available when the Cowboys picked this player. This was the Cowboys only dud of a draft pick.

This was a future pick.

He needs a full year in the weight room.

I was surprised at his lack of size up top, but that’s probably a result of the shoulder injury.

The potential is there, but they can’t be counting on him this year

They MUST sign a veteran tackle.

3 yards and a cloud of dust conference. They dont pass block.

All this talk about keeping which receivers on the roster, the Cowboys better get serious about their OLine and its depth or it won’t matter. Somewhere Bill Parcells is laughing his a** off.

It's an unfortunate situation where this board is conditioned to allow poor performance if the player is not a first round olinemen draft pick.

Heck, they even allow some of the first rounders like Guyton these stupid development passes so they can talk them selves into being comfortable with poor performance.

And dont even attempt to mention a non first round olinemen playing well his rookie year for another team.
You will be met with criticism in a variety of ways.
I personally think oline scouting is declining and that even includes Booker.

Not too thrilled at what the Cowboy drafters see in either Oline or dline edge guys.
But that's just me.

It is what it is.
Keep sharing your opinion brother.

Hes a finese LT switching sides and lacks NFL strength. He needs time. Im not sure what more was expected of him at this point.
I didn’t understand the line coach’s enthusiasm when he was drafted, but I’ll trust that he knows what he’s doing. And if Shelton busts, I’ll hold that same guy accountable. Just like I did with the one that pushed for Chaz Green.

We have zero proven OTs on this roster and we are one injury away from this going from a big problem to a 3 alarm fire

They need to bring in help. Yesterday
At this stage isn’t the talent gonna be comparable? I think Decker wants a nice check im assuming.

His technique was awful. I was rewinding the game and wondering if that was his first game on the offensive line. It was really bad.

Yup, good call. Looked horrific.
Guyton rookie year flashbacks for real.
At least they didn't use a first rounder on him too though.
So that's good.
And a 3 year waiting game makes sense for development.
They’ll try to stash him in the PS
